Job Description:
Position: GIS Analyst/Cartographer (Abha - Site)
Position OverviewThe GIS Analyst will focus on handling the growing number of map requests from multiple departments, including legal, master planning, utilities, and the development team. Additionally, with the upcoming land acquisition project, the demand for accurate, real-time GIS analysis and reporting will further increase.
Main Tasks
Fulfill map and analysis requests for the legal, utilities, and master planning teams.
Provide GIS support for the land acquisition project, including parcel identification, boundary mapping, and property analysis.
Assist in centralizing all GIS data to ensure efficient access and usability across departments.
Ensure that all departments, beyond just development, are adequately served with accurate and up-to-date GIS data.
What You'll Be Doing:
Utilize GIS software for mapping, spatial analysis, and database management to support project objectives.
Design and maintain GIS databases and integrate various data types, including CAD, GPS, and database files, into GIS systems.
Create and develop cartographic products, ensuring the application of appropriate coordinate systems, projections, and map scales.
Automate GIS processes through scripting and programming using languages such as Python, Visual Basic, and HTML.
Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on GIS data and processes.
Analyze spatial data using advanced methods such as interpolation and modeling to identify patterns and trends.
Integrate GIS applications with non-GIS datasets, ensuring accuracy and relevance to project needs.
Prepare and deliver project outputs in both digital and hardcopy formats, meeting client and internal team requirements.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and vendors, to ensure project success.
Provide technical guidance to junior GIS team members and maintain detailed project documentation and metadata
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Cartography, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 18 years of experience in GIS design, mapping, and analysis.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Proficiency in GIS software applications, such as ESRI ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or similar tools.
Strong programming and scripting skills in languages like Python, Visual Basic, and HTML for automation and customization of GIS processes.
Expertise in cartography, including map design principles and the application of various coordinate systems and projections.
Familiarity with database management systems, such as Microsoft Access and dBase, for GIS data organization.
Experience integrating and processing diverse data types (e.g., CAD, GPS, and geospatial data).
Knowledge of metadata creation and project documentation best practices.
Strong analytical skills for identifying data anomalies, assessing software limitations, and troubleshooting issues.
Proficiency in basic office automation software, including MS Word, MS Excel, and Power BI, for reporting and visualization.
Skills in maps layout and geoprocessing for daily operations.
Fully aware of using GIS ArcGIS Pro software and related technologies.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey project outcomes and provide technical guidance.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
