SUMMARY:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Business Development to lead our growth efforts within the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Marine Corps markets. This role is crucial in identifying new business opportunities, fostering strategic partnerships, and driving revenue growth. Key responsibilities include developing and executing innovative business strategies, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, and leading high-performing business capture teams. The Director will report directly to the Vice-President of Business Development.

Business Strategy and Planning:
Develop and implement a comprehensive business strategy for the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and international markets, aligning with CymSTAR's vision and goals.
Analyze market trends, industry developments, and the competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities and potential risks.
Collaborate with the Vice President of Business Development to establish revenue and business expansion targets.
New Business Opportunities:
Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, and potential markets for expansion.
Conduct market research and feasibility studies to assess the viability of new ventures.
Lead business negotiations and close strategic partnerships, collaborations, and teaming agreements.
Sales and Revenue Growth:
Work closely with the Vice President of Business Development to align business development efforts with sales goals and revenue targets.
Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline, actively pursuing new leads and prospects.
Drive business development initiatives that lead to revenue growth and increased market share.
Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, partners, and stakeholders.
Cultivate a network of industry contacts to enhance the company's visibility and reputation.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor capture teams, providing guidance, support, and motivation to achieve goals.
Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that promotes creativity and success.
Financial Analysis and Reporting:
Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting related to business development activities.
Work closely with the Vice President of Business Development to establish the annual budget.
Present regular reports to the Vice President of Business Development, highlighting progress, challenges, and opportunities.
Other Duties:
Perform duties as required to effectively support CymSTAR's business development objectives.
Travel
The Director of Business Development position requires frequent travel, both domestically and internationally, to engage with clients, partners, and stakeholders in key markets. This includes attending industry events, conferences, and meetings to build relationships, negotiate deals, and promote CymSTAR solutions. The ideal candidate should be adaptable and prepared to travel extensively to fulfill the responsibilities of the role and support the company's business development objectives.
Expected Hours of Work
A standard 40-hour workweek, Monday to Friday. Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet project deadlines and client requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Director of Business Development will have administrative supervision responsibilities, overseeing a team of business development professionals including business development analysts. This includes setting performance goals, providing mentorship and guidance, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. The Director will also be responsible for conducting performance evaluations, managing team workloads, and ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives. Additionally, the role involves coordinating with other departments to support business development initiatives and achieve overall company goals.
Education and/or Experience
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or a related field, with at least 10 years of experience in marketing, business development, sales, program management, or task management. This experience should include senior leadership roles, preferably within the U.S. Military services. Familiarity with the Federal Government or DoD procurement proposal environment is beneficial. A master's degree is preferred.

In addition to a relevant degree and experience, a Director of Business Development should have strong strategic thinking, analytical, and communication skills. They must be adept at leading teams, negotiating deals, and adapting to changing market conditions. A customer-focused approach, excellent networking abilities, and a good understanding of the company's products and services are essential. Familiarity with regulatory requirements, compliance, and ethical standards, especially in government-related markets, is also important.
Citizenship
U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to understand, calculate and apply business mathematics principles.
Demonstrated proficiency in business mathematics, including basic arithmetic, algebra, and statistical analysis, to solve problems and make informed decisions.
Proficiency in creating, managing, and analyzing budgets, ensuring financial resources are allocated effectively to meet organizational goals.
Computer Skills
Solid Technology skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications are essential. Experienced and proficient in the use of standard personal computer software tools; including word processors, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, databases, virtual meetings, team collaboration software, project tracking and databases.
Additionally, strong skills in conducting internet research for market analysis and tracking industry trends are essential.
Reasoning Ability
Strong ability to identify and define problems, gather and analyze relevant data, establish facts, and draw sound, logical conclusions.
Capable of developing and evaluating options, considering the implications of each, and making well-informed decisions. Proficient in applying critical thinking to complex scenarios and adapting solutions to meet evolving circumstances.

Using hands and fingers: Operating a computer, keyboard and telephone, as well as handling or feeling other objects.
Reaching, stooping and kneeling: Ability to bend, stoop, and crouch to set up displays, retrieve items, and interact with booth visitors.
Vision: Close vision for computer work.
Lifting and carrying: Ability to lift, carry, and transport materials such as product samples, promotional materials, and exhibit components, which may weigh up to 50 pounds.
Attendance: Regular, predictable attendance is required.
