General Job Summary:
The Combustion Senior Engineer will be an engineering leader and key contributor to FTT's combustion engineering discipline. Conducting state of the art design, analysis, development, and test validation of gas turbine engine combustors. The engineer will be in a key, analytical role within a small, highly skilled team of engineers focusing on all aspects of combustion systems.
Essential Job Functions:
Analyze and design combustors, fuel and ignition system components to meet mission requirements.
Acquire or contribute to engine system level requirements and establish combustion system performance, and durability requirements for the combustor.
Lead and conduct computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations.
Utilize practical, classical analyses with hands-on experiments to rapidly develop complex industrial and aero gas turbine engine combustor systems and augmenters.
Guide junior-level engineers in the execution of the combustion system development, design, and test.
Champion the development of combustion engineers, advance design processes, and design tools.
Contribute to the development of best practices in computational simulation of gaseous and variable viscosity liquid fueled combustion systems.
Take ownership of results as it directly supports the combustion team deliverables and decisions.

Required Experience:
Self-starter with extensive experience in combustion system analysis, CFD, and test correlation.
Proficiency in classical combustion analysis, computational simulations, and combustor/engine testing.
Highly skilled in the combustion system development process from analysis and design to test validation.
Proficient in utilizing complex CFD codes along with classical analyses to rapidly develop advanced combustion systems.
Knowledge and practical expertise in combustion chemistry and physics.
Possesses hands-on experience in test setup, instrumentation requirements, and validation of new combustion system designs.
Ability to quickly correlate analytical results with experiments and engine test data.
Education and Experience:
BS, MS, or PhD in Engineering.
8+ years of direct experience in combustion system design, analyses, and tests.
Direct experience with subsonic and supersonic engine combustion systems and augmenters is desired.
Proficiency in Ansys CFD tools for combustion applications is preferred.
