Overview
This position is responsible for guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to a Geospatial team to achieve discipline, team and individual team member goals. The Geospatial Team Lead is key in establishing and improving levels of team technical competence, quality, and efficiency. The position works within the team, as a member, carrying out the same roles but with the additional 'leader' responsibilities. The Team Lead will monitor the quantitative and qualitative achievements of the team and reports results to the Discipline Leader.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership:
Perform technical work and QA/QC in addition to managing the work of others.
Act as subject matter expert providing project deliverable development oversight, creating/refining and implementing technical processes and furnishing technical support to the Woolpert markets and practices.
Develop and reinforce QA/QC standards. Create and oversee the quality of deliverables prepared by team members.
Train, coach and mentor staff existing or new technical requirements.
Resolve issues impacting technical project objectives.
Lead or support team in technical scope and budget/pricing development for proposals and dynamic project planning.
Support client relationships and business development in support of strategic business plan.
Act as key point of internal contact for technical needs. Identify plan vs. actual performance variances.
Provide monthly reporting of resource planning, percent completes, budget dollar variance and market communications.
People Management:
Responsible for supervising, managing and motivating team members daily to function in a goal oriented manner.
Through supportive leadership, create an inspiring and trusting team environment promoting the growth of team members with an open communication culture.
Utilize their expertise, their peers, influence, and/or creativeness to formulate smooth team operations and effective collaboration.
Responsible for effective planning and scheduling of workload and performance of team members.
Ensures team is right-sized, right-skilled and managed to through accurate and efficient use of Resource
Interview and hire team members. Listen to team members' feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts, escalating issues as needed.
Provide ongoing Project Fundamentals training and coaching to team members.
Has full people managerial responsibilities (goal setting, training plans, performance development reviews, pay decisions, termination, discipline, staffing, etc.) and partners with Human Resources for strategic people management duties.
Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Must have a BA/BS degree in related field.
Minimum of ten (10) years of technical related work experience required.
Minimum of two (2) years progressive leadership experience required.
Must possess strong communication skills.
Must possess MS Office suite skills.
Must possess strong organizational skills.
Travel: Must be able to travel up to 25%. However, this may be higher depending on the specific team or discipline and related services. An acceptable threshold will be established by you and your manager on a yearly basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active Professional Registration highly preferable where applicable.
Resulting Physical Qualifications:
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
Must be able to operate and manipulate standard office equipment.
Must be able to occasionally reach, bend, climb and/or balance.
