The Simulator Technician II maintains, repairs, and installs US Army Home Station Instrumentation Training System (HITS). Troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, and navigational aids); personal and main frame computers and terminals, industrial, medical, measuring, and controlling equipment; and industrial robotic devices. Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mode, and recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
Operates theater equipment in support of customer presentations and AARs. Will oversee routine periodic maintenance and perform repairs as needed on equipment. Performs PMCS, troubleshoots and isolates faults. Uses spare/repair parts to repair faults IAW technical guidelines. Researches and selects repair parts needed. Enters work order data in the on-line management information system. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve routine problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Will provide technical guidance to lower level technicians. Documents all maintenance actions by inputting data in management information system. May be required to support other devices and will be cross-trained, as needed.
This position supports the Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Capability Instrumentation System (JPMRC-IS) program under the Army TADSS Maintenance Program (ATMP) at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. JPMRC-IS operations support the Army s USARPAC mission: to provide realistic joint and combined arms training focused on developing soldiers, leaders, and units of the United States military for success on the 21st century battlefield. This experience includes capabilities of many of the world's best systems integration and engineering in the technical integration of live, virtual and constructive (LVC) training support.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the deployment, setup, configuration, testing and troubleshooting of mobile tower systems
Responsible for the final installation, integration and testing of LMR P25 and conventional simulcast systems.
Must support and perform microwave path alignments, equipment configuration and troubleshooting of transmission path problems.
Responsible for the maintenance and field repair of base stations, transmitters and other field repairable system equipment and components.
Directly responsible for the performance of field investigations to support engineering analysis.
Perform factory maintenance on systems as assigned.
Create technical field and maintenance reports, as required.
Complete testing and system performance documentation.
Support and perform on-site commissioning, site acceptance and system testing.
Assist with programming and configuration of all system components.
Employ of a variety of specialized test equipment and complex electronic schematics and diagrams in conducting fault isolation, and use the data gained through the troubleshooting/repair process to prepare and revise maintenance instructions and procedures and to recommend and implement manufacturer/engineering changes.
Ensure all maintenance, training, supply and property process/practices supporting site operations are implemented and documented in AWARE.
Ensuring physical security of equipment.
May require travel to other military installations and other ATMP locations throughout CONUS and OCONUS.
Any other duties as may be assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
2 year Associate Degree in electronics or related technical field and 2 years of experience preferred, or a minimum 4-5 years of requisite experience.
Proficient with basic computer systems including email and Microsoft Office applications and be able to work with a computer for extended periods of time.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in accordance with established procedures.
Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid driver's license and Post driving privileges.
Able to obtain US passport.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Must Possess a Secret Security Clearance.
