Job Summary: The Senior Manager of RF Engineering will lead and oversee the RF engineering department within Mercury's electrical engineering organization. The department is comprised of multiple teams across various geographic locations that are focused on developing RF devices, modules, and integrated microwave assemblies. This role is crucial for driving innovation, ensuring the highest engineering standards, and maintaining seamless integration of RF engineering functions within Mercury Systems. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in RF and microwave technologies, proven leadership skills in a matrix organization, and a deep understanding of the aerospace and defense industry's unique challenges and requirements. Job Responsibility: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the RF engineering department in Mercury's electrical engineering organization. Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the department and with the rest of the engineering organization. Responsible for enabling the department to drive strategic technological advancements and integrate cutting-edge solutions into engineering practices. Drive common modular designs across programs with a focus on re-use and DFMAT (Design for Manufacturability, Automated Assembly & Test). Develop, implement, and standardize engineering best practices, standards, and processes across the RF teams. Deploy a staffing and training strategy to ensure the skills of the staff are aligned to the needs of the business. Proactively manage staff size to ensure alignment to business growth plans. Collaborate with programs and other functional leaders to align engineering efforts with business objectives and customer needs. Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Generate and maintain performance metrics to support accurate and reliable Bid and Proposal efforts. Responsible for approving and achieving functional performance against bids. Maintain a strong focus on safety, reliability, and performance in all engineering deliverables. Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering career growth and enhancing team capabilities. Implement training programs to keep the team updated on the latest technologies and industry trends. Required Qualification: * BS or MS in relevant field (Electrical Engineering or equivalent) * 10+ years of RF/microwave product development experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing multiple engineering teams, including other managers * Experience mentoring junior engineers and managers * Experience coaching and developing leaders * Experience with process improvements and root cause analysis, such as 5 Whys and 8D Experience supporting proposal development for DoD contracts * Ability to deliver on-time in a fast paced, growth-oriented environment * Experience operating in a matrix style organization * Ability to get a US Govt. Security clearance to the Secret level Travel: Willingness to travel to various sites as required Full-Time Equivalent Annual Salary Range: 95,200-199,900 for Principal/ Manager at Torrance CA USA. This disclosed salary range is a general guideline for Mercury team members employed at the job level at the location listed above and does not include overtime for eligible hourly employees.
