RTX Technology Research Center (RTRC) works with the business units of RTX Corporation (RTX) to develop new technologies and processes required to produce the most innovative products in the world. What You Will Do:
The Combustion and Propulsion Technology (CPT) Discipline at RTX Technology Research Center is seeking a candidate to join its Aerothermal Test Team as a Controls Engineer. The Aerothermal Test Team maintains and operates two large test facilities: the Jet Burner Test Stand, and the Compressor Test Facility, both of which are utilized heavily to drive innovation for the RTX business units. Integral to the operation of these facilities are numerous electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components controlled via PLC-based systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in programming Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLC systems, HMI/SCADA development, control device communication and networking. The position requires analytical engineering skills and hands-on experience in the specification, installation, testing, operation and troubleshooting of PLC systems. Activities will include day-to-day PLC system support for experimental aero compressor, aero component and combustion testing as well as recommending, defining and implementing control system improvements.
Due to the nature of the experimental testing, flexible scheduling and multi-shift test support will be required.
Qualifications you must have:
Bachelor's candidates with a minimum of 8+ years of work experience in PLC hardware, software and programming or a Master's degree and 5 years of work experience in PLC hardware, software, and programming or a PhD with 3+ years of relevant work experience.
Expertise in the setup, operation, and programming of ladder logic PLC code and HMI/SCADA development.
Experience with preparation of electrical schematics, panel layouts, operator interface designs and control system upgrades and the ability to provide technical support involving installation of new equipment, modification of existing equipment, and repair, maintenance and troubleshooting of electromechanical systems
Experience working closely with a team to achieve operational goals utilizing strong technical leadership and troubleshooting skills and strong organizational, project management, scheduling, and documentation skills.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
The preferred candidate will have a Master's degree in a related engineering field.
Expertise in Logix5000, FactoryTalk, Wonderware programming
Expertise with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical processes
Working knowledge of data acquisition and test instrumentation
Interest in Aerospace technology a plus

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
