Job Title: Flight Test/Mk21A Flight Test Engineer
Location: Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA
Canvas is seeking a Flight Test Engineer to support our TMAS II AEDC contract! This position is to provide assistance and advisory services to the DoD.
Duties:
Advocate and lead the developmental test & evaluation planning and oversight at VSFB for flight testing to assess performance against stated program requirements.
Assist mission thread leads in managing and coordinating testing roles and responsibilities within test planning teams (TPTs).
Coordinate/facilitate integration and communication between Sentinel CTF, SPO, and Prime Contractor.
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary government and contractor team to plan, test, analyze, and report through multiple program acquisition phases.
In coordination with the program office and prime contractor develop, review, and execute test plans for all areas relating to VSFB flight testing, to include Mk21A integration.
Decompose test requirements into test objectives, evaluation criteria, and required resources for system level tests and demonstrations.
Support use of Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) applications and agile techniques in T&E of the weapon system.
Support the development of test requirements and detailed integration test plans, test procedures, technical and safety review boards (TRB/SRBs), test readiness reviews (TRRs), and test assessment reports.
Coordinate with VSFB range safety personnel to integrate CTF and SPO test personnel into flight test planning and execution decisions.
Oversee qualification and acceptance testing activities occurring at VSFB for cables, destruct systems, and onboard telemetry systems.
Support integration and advancement of government assessment tools through advocacy for technical approaches and development of specific tools to enable assessment.
Author independent assessments of contractor test results.
Assess test support and systems integration progress and trends of testing, identify problems and areas of concern for assigned systems.
Maintain cognizance of all assigned Combined Test Force (CTF)/Test Team engineering activities.
Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and Integrated Test Teams (ITTs) as appropriate. Provide technical support and advocate integrated approaches of engineering efforts and support of test activities for which existing guidelines may not be available or applicable.
Manage unit access to safes, IT equipment lists, account/platform access and COMSEC responsibilities. Maintain Program Integration Office (PIO) and AFOTEC integration teams/liaison.
Serve as a test team participant in the development of overall plans such as the Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP), System Test Plan (STP), Developmental Test (DT) Report, recommendation for IOT&E readiness, and other technical documents.
Requirements:
A Bachelor of Science degree and at least six years direct work experience or four years direct experience. A Master of Science degree is desired.
Demonstrated expertise flight test methodologies test planning, and test conduct is required. Knowledge of Vandenberg range requirements (Range Safety, 576 FLTS, Frequency clearance, etc). Demonstrated record of experience and accomplishments that are exceptional and/or unique.
Verbal and written communications are clear, concise, and at appropriate level.
Utilize resources effectively to accomplish mission, including ability to work effectively alone, unsupervised, or within a group.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment while being able to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
Focused adherence to safety and security requirements.
Experience with on-board test equipment instrumentation, data acquisition, and data processing.
Familiarity with CONOPS for booster and post boost vehicle processing, missile stack-up, and in silo confidence checkout.
Previous work experience in a Lead Developmental Test and Evaluation Organization (LDTO) or Operational Test Organization (OTO) environment.
Familiarity in the following:
ICBM weapon systems and related subsystems/equipment, their projected use in the military, and methods of testing.
test & evaluation planning and processes consistent with DoD acquisition directives and policies.
flight test data analysis/evaluation, modeling and simulation, technical report preparation, and administrative aspects of flight test programs.
analyzing GPS and telemetry data requirements for missile performance accuracy.
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
Other Essential Job Functions: Must be willing to travel up to 10%.
