THE WORK
As a software engineer, your role will involve participating in development and integration of the Control and Management software used for submarine communications. Primary responsibilities include designing, implementing, unit testing, and integrating Java based software. In addition, you will provide real-time support to government counterparts and customers for integration, testing, and troubleshooting of lab and deployed systems. You should have a strong analytical background, well developed problem-solving skills, the ability to work in teams, and excellent communication and organizational skills. You should also have experience in Object Oriented Design in Java. You should be able to interpret design specifications, create low-level software design, and translate design into working code. You should be detail-oriented with troubleshooting skills to be able to analyze issues relating to all aspects of the software and provide resolution recommendations for them. Experience with developing software for Linux environments is desired. Familiarity with a Lean development approach as well as Agile software development processes is also desired.

You are an experienced Software Engineer with a proven track record in troubleshooting and supporting systems. You possess strong integration skills, attention to detail, and technical writing skills.
Candidates must have or be able to acquire a Secret Clearance. Most software development is expected to be completed on-site in San Diego within a secure room. Candidates should expect to be on-site full-time.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Experience developing Object Oriented software with Java.
- Integration skills.
- Experience with troubleshooting/supporting systems deployed on Linux.
- Technical writing skills.
- Ability to obtain a secret clearance required (U.S. citizenship required)
Desired Skills:
Experience with Eclipse, Git / GitLab, and JIRA
Experience with VMWare
Experience with Relational Databases: Oracle, HSQL or PostgreSQL experience is a plus.
Experience with DevSecOps development environments.
Experience with JMS and Hibernate.
Familiarity with a Lean development and Agile software development processes.
Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $70,500 - $135,000. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $81,000 - $152,600. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
