Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Structural Analyst Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This role is located in Palmdale, CA and is assigned to 1st shift 4/10 schedule. Primary function is MRB Stress Analysis supporting a high paced production environment.
Looking for an Engineer who analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability of metal and composite airframe structures. Tools utilized may include NX CAD, Femap, Nastran and a variety of software applications. Primary function is MRB Stress Analysis supporting a high paced production environment.
Essential Functions:
Provides stress MRB dispositions for primary and secondary structure.
Review of completed analyses, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
Coordination and clear communication with other disciplines during the development of design solutions.
Concise presentation and explanation of structural issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives.
Maintains and improves part designs, equipment, and systems in support of production deliveries
Develop solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and consistent with program objectives.
Evaluation of as built products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 14 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 12 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. in STEM discipline AND 9 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance within a reasonable period of time, prior to start.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) within a reasonable amount of time, prior to start.
Experience in Bonded Composite Structural Analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures.
Experience in Metallic Structural Analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures
Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.
Preferred Qualifications:
Current DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance
Experience working on Special Access Programs
Experience working on military aircraft
Experience as a Lead Engineer managing a small group of analysts
10 years or more Aerospace structural analysis experience using NASTRAN, PATRAN, or FEMAP.
Experience with analysis of composite structure and repair methods
Experience with analysis of metallic structure and repair methods
Salary Range: $165,000 - $247,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
