THOR Solutions is actively seeking a Strategic Support Specialist to contribute to the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific Strategic Team in San Diego, CA. This individual will research, write about, and summarize technical strategic topics, as well as contribute to the strategic team's planning process and monthly meetings. This position interacts with and provides recommendations to senior government leadership at NIWC. An ideal candidate will have experience monitoring and writing on strategic or technical topics, coordinating events, and working with senior government individuals in a Navy/DoD environment.
Typical Responsibilities:
Provide primary support to the NIWC Strategic Team by fulfilling all tasks and duties as required.
Conduct research on trending political topics or policies and summarize findings to share on the NIWC Hub. Participate in planning meetings to select topics. Provide feedback/review functions to other team members' writings.
Perform extensive research to support the Strategic Team with Environmental Scan (ES) projects. Present or answer questions related to ES topics.
Stay updated on the latest Strategic Plan released by the Navy and other military branches.
Schedule and coordinate meetings and events including agenda, room scheduling and prep, and slide and content prep.
Attend numerous meetings to support the Strategic Planning Meeting (SPM) teams.
Assist in building SPM presentations, conducting research, and communicating with SPM team members.
Participate in meetings with senior NIWC government leadership.
Assist the Branch Head with planning and organizing the TeachBoard Annual Conference.
Location: Full time onsite at the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC PAC) in San Diego, CA.
Schedule: This position follows the California Alternate Work Week schedule. Mondays through Thursdays are 9-hour days. Fridays alternate between 8-hour days or non-working days. In each two-week period, this totals 80 hours.
Typical Physical Activity: Desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion.
Typical Pay Range: The anticipated pay range for this position in the identified location(s) is $29.00 - 32.00/hour. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required:?This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must either already possess an active or interim Secret security clearance (highly preferred); OR be eligible for a Secret security clearance prior to start.
Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:?
Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical or business discipline.
In lieu of an appropriate degree, other degrees, relevant professional certifications, and/or additional years of highly relevant experience may be considered.
At least five (5) years of recent, relevant professional experience with strategic planning, writing, and coordination.
Ideal experience will have been obtained in a U.S. Navy, DOD, or other Federal environment.
Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with evolving responsibilities, changing priorities, and self scheduling.
Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as other common productivity software.
Strong communication skills, including experience/comfort interacting with senior/executive-level active-duty military and civilian Government employees.
Effective organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
