THOR Solutions is actively seeking an experienced Diesel Lifecycle Engineering Representative (DLER) to support Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) in San Diego, CA. The DLER is assigned to one or more vessels in the LPD 17, LSD 41/49, or LHD 8/LHA 6 ship classes. The DLER assists the ship's crew in documenting and scheduling Diesel Engine maintenance actions, collecting engine performance data, and assisting with engine balancing.
The candidate's responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) performing or supporting the following:
Coordinate diesel engine maintenance with the ship's maintenance team, regional maintenance centers.
Represent the ISEA at integrated project team development meetings, conferences, work package reviews, and industrial support visits.
Maintain life cycle maintenance plans for assigned vessels.
Monitor vessels life cycle maintenance, performance data, and reciprocating engine analysis testing compliance.
Coordinate to ensure that condition-based maintenance requirements are planned for upcoming availabilities.
Review and submit technical reports, work specifications, and maintenance procedures.
Evaluate departure from specification requests and submit to the appropriate technical authority for resolution.
Develop and implement maintenance policies and procedures to ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and repaired.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure that parts and materials are available when needed.
Provide the crew training in collecting engine performance data.
Assist the crew in engine balancing and grooming events.
Anticipated Pay Range: This position is targeting around $33.54/hour.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required:?This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must either:
Already possess an active or interim Secret security clearance (preferred);
OR be eligible for a Secret security clearance upon hire.
Preferred Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
High school diploma/GED equivalent.
Technical school diploma, or Military school certificate in a relevant discipline is preferred.
At least seven (7) years of US Navy Engineman or relevant maritime experience in the areas of Navy diesel propulsion and power generating systems.
Two (2) years of experience with the Diesel Maintenance Strategy (DMS) and Diesel Readiness System (DRS) programs
At least two (2) years of experience with the one of the following engine lines:
Colt-Pielstick PC2.5
PA6B
FMOP 38 ND 8 1/8
Caterpillar 3608
Prior or current certification as a US Navy Fleet Diesel Engine Inspector (DEI) and/or an OEM Technical Service Representative.
Experience should include:
The Shipboard Automated Maintenance Manager (SAMM) software.
Diesel engine performance analysis (DEPA) data collection.
Reviewing and analyzing engine data to provide technical recommendations.
Performing engine balance/grooming events.
Proficiency with common productivity software including Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Typical Physical Activity:
Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion. Periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches) or vision.
Travel Requirements:
Approximately 10-20% travel estimated.
