Axient is seeking a Subject Matter Expert: Large Space Vehicle and Lean Production . As a part-time remote, casual employee the SME will provide support in the SLS Program Prime Contractor manufacturing improvement initiatives as a Steering Committee member. Provide expert advice and guidance to Steering Committee and subordinate teams on improving manufacturing throughput and velocity, quality, and supplier management. Participate in NASA-led benchmarking activities with prime contractors, suppliers, and outside training entities for knowledge sharing with SLS Primes. Suggest successful practices from experience for adaptation to current SLS production lines.
What you will do...
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Specific duties include but may not be limited to the following:
Meet with team leads (remotely), ~bi-weeklyo Progress since last meeting; how are your investigation and solution-driving efforts going?o Ensure cross feed between teamso Ensure constancy to the vision and alignment with overall NASA-led effortso Give guidance/ideas/sources from experience on what to investigate and recommended solutions
Participate in or maintain cognizance of NASA-led efforts, particularly Toyota Production System training and benchmarking opportunities
Set priorities, guidance, starting points, and suggested methodology of attack for subordinate teams' investigations
Other duties as required
Skills you will need...
Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
Subject Matter Expert level - 25 years relevant experience in manufacturing efficiencies is desired.
Expert level knowledge of NPR 7120.5 NASA Flight Program and Project Management Requirements and NPR 7123.1 Systems Engineering Processes and Requirements.
Work experience providing various levels of support with prior NASA Program Management and/or Human Space Flight.
