The Center for Securing the Homeland (CSH) at MITRE supports the Homeland Security Systems Engineering and Development Institute (HSSEDI) FFRDC and the NIST National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) by providing independent and objective expertise to enhance mission capabilities. CSH collaborates with federal agencies like DHS and NIST to deliver innovative solutions and develop frameworks that strengthen national security and cybersecurity infrastructure."
Job Responsibilities:
Engage in a project related to: cybersecurity strategy and planning; cybersecurity risk management, assessments, and standards; cybersecurity defensive operations; cybersecurity engineering; cloud security, ICS security, infrastructure resilience and analysis; insider threat; or international cyber capacity building.
Support the development and application of technical process approaches to sponsor cybersecurity, critical infrastructure, or insider threat problems.
Perform processing and analysis of collected information to derive insights and meaning.
Develop recommendations based on analysis.
Basic Qualifications:
Must be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in Cyber or Information Security or a related degree and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.
Academic course work or experience understanding threats, ?vulnerabilities, and risks within those domains.
Sustained excellence in academic performance
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledgeable of general cybersecurity, zero trust, cloud security, ICS security, critical infrastructure, or insider threat concepts or capabilities.
Experience having applied cybersecurity learning to an internship or research/lab position
Demonstrated analytical capabilities.
Strong writing and communication skills.
Programming experience in a modern language such as Python, C, Java
Ability to positively engage with senior Government staff, technical peers, and MITRE team members.
Ability to quickly learn new skills and approaches.
Demonstrated interest in serving the public
