The Work
Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems has an opportunity in Syracuse, NY for an mid-career Software Engineer supporting our Torpedoes business area. As an mid-career hire on our Software Engineering team, you can help us take on the world's most important and complex challenges by providing solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity under general supervision. In this important role, you will collaborate with a diverse team of technical professionals and interact with outside customers. The successful candidate will be flexible, motivated, dedicated, detail-focused, team-oriented, and capable of multi-tasking.
Designs, modifies, develops, writes, and implements and integrates software programming applications for target system.
Writes source code for new applications, and/or generates and enhances code for existing applications.
Performs code reviews, optimizes algorithms, and models and conducts experiments to ensure the functionality and performance of products or solutions.
Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities.
Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software.
Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.

Basic Qualifications:
-Qualified candidate must be able to obtain a DoD Interim Secret Security Clearance prior to starting this position. This requires US Citizenship.
-Experience programming in C and C++ is required.
-Experience in all phases of the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), including requirements analysis, design, coding, unit test, integration, and verification
-Experience generating and maintaining program software documentation
-Experience with software configuration management
-Experience with Real time operating systems (VxWorks and Linux)
Desired Skills:
-Familiarity with Integrated Development Environments (Eclipse, Tornado, Visual Studio/Express)
-Familiarity with Software Development Methodologies (Agile/Incremental/Waterfall)
-Familiarity with Model based Engineering Unified Modeling Language (UML)
-Familiarity with SW Metrics
-Experience with and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
-Excellent writing, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
-Experience with Program & Technical Milestone reviews (PDRs/CDRs/TRRs) and support.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $85,900 - $164,600. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate:
