Brief Job Overview
Step into the role of Head of Digital Product Software Engineering and lead the charge in the development of digital products within USP's Digital and Innovation (D&I) Division. We are on a mission to take USP's knowledge, accumulated over its 200+ year history, and deliver it to our customers in 21st century formats. From architecture and design to implementation and delivery, you will oversee every aspect of software design and development of digital products. As a key player on
USP's Global Leadership Team and D&I's Leadership Team, you will provide critical digital product design and development expertise across the organization. Partnering with our digital product owners, IT, and other USP departments, you will transform stakeholder needs into groundbreaking digital products and features

USP has set ambitious targets for the creation and scaling of digital products to help our diverse stakeholders use and implement our standards and solutions. The Senior Director, Head of Digital Product Software Engineering has the following responsibilities:
By effectively leading the department responsible for the software architecture and development of USP's digital products, you will enhance our ability to rapidly and iteratively address the needs of our stakeholders.
You will ensure that the individual product technical development strategies and roadmaps integrate in a way to strengthen each other, and that they strike the right balance between specific near-term developments and longer-term, sustainable platform building.
You will be responsible for building an interdisciplinary product team consisting, for example, of architects, programmers, designers, product delivery leads, and business analysts.
You will also ensure our digital products are built with a cohesive, cross-product vision.
You will be responsible for developing strategies that not only address the technical needs of individual products but also recognize and account for interdependencies between them.
Your department will be responsible for the execution of the development roadmaps using modern (agile) development approaches, as well as for the exploration and establishment of innovative software technologies and approaches for future product development
Who is USP Looking For?
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:
B achelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of Ten (10) years of experience leading successful, full-stack new product software development teams (e.g., software engineering, software architecture, data management, UI/UX) in a dynamic environment focused on agile methodologies, continuous customer feedback and fast iteration.
Proven full-stack technical skills in several of the following: Programming (e.g., Python, Java, TypeScript), UI/UX design and implementation, Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and associated technologies, Data Management (e.g., RDBMS, Graph databases, Data Lakes), Artificial Intelligence (e.g., Machine Learning, Generative AI).
Minimum of five (5) years of experience working on building and commercializing software products: understanding and translating customer needs into design strategies and technical requirements.
Minimum of five (5) years of people management experience.
Excellent communication skills to make technical concepts understandable to technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience driving collaboration across functions including marketing, sales, and customer success teams to align product strategies and ensure cohesive execution.
Experience with cross-product integration and the ability to identify and manage interdependencies between digital products, ensuring a cohesive, scalable product ecosystem Demonstrated success in fostering innovation through the exploration of cutting-edge software technologies and practices.
Experience working in a highly matrixed environment, balancing across multiple stakeholders and priorities.
Additional Desired Preferences
Advanced degree, for example, in Computer Science or Engineering, and certifications in specific approaches and technologies (e.g., AWS).
Experience in healthcare or pharmaceutical industries.
Experience in evolving the architecture and code of legacy products.
Data management or data science experience.
Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset.
Excellent team leadership and cross-functional influencing skills.

Base Salary Range: USD $ 198,000.00 - 230,000.00 annually.
Target Annual Bonus: % Varies based on level of role
