SC&A is looking for a Cybersecurity Intern to join our team in our Arlington, VA office. SC&A is a regulated federal government contractor that is compliant with NIST SP 800-171 and is seeking a current college student to assist with implementation, analysis, and transitional support for implementation of new guidance with revision 3. The intern will provide technical and policy support for our cybersecurity and data protection program.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, solid analytical skills, and proven problem-solving experience. They will use their interpersonal skills to communicate with employees and provide a solution to their technical problems quickly and professionally. The intern will report directly to SC&A's Chief Information Officer and gain hand-on experience with a government contractor's cybersecurity program.
Job Responsibilities:
Engage in projects related to: cybersecurity strategy and planning; cybersecurity risk management, assessments, and standards; cybersecurity defensive operations; cybersecurity engineering; cloud security, infrastructure resilience and analysis; and/or insider threat.
Support the development and application of technical process approaches to cybersecurity, critical infrastructure, or insider threat problems.
Develop policy and procedural updates to existing program documentation to reflect new and revisions to existing federal standards and guidance.
Perform processing and analysis of collected information to derive insights and meaning.
Develop recommendations based on analysis.
Basic Qualifications:
Must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in Cyber or Information Security or a related degree and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.
Academic course work or experience understanding threats, ?vulnerabilities, and risks within those domains.
Sustained excellence in academic performance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledgeable of general cybersecurity, zero trust, cloud security, critical infrastructure, or insider threat concepts or capabilities.
Experience having applied cybersecurity learning to an internship or research/lab position.
Demonstrated analytical capabilities.
Strong writing and communication skills.
Ability to positively engage with senior Government staff, technical peers, and SC&A team members.
Ability to quickly learn new skills and approaches.
Demonstrated interest in serving the public
Work hours and location:
The internship is part-time, up to 20 hours per week, based on the student's availability.
The intern is expected to work at SC&A's Arlington, VA, office 2-3 days each week, with the ability to work remotely as negotiated with their supervisor.

This is a paid internship offering $20-$25/hour depending on experience.
