Senior Systems Engineer
The mission of the G6 Operations Division is to provide staff supervision and management of communications connectivity for NexGen, SPIRIT, and SPIRIT LITE systems, and other configurations that are enabled by GET communications. This requisition seeks to obtain professional support services that support the government in the sustainment of intelligence collection and dissemination assets vital to the security of the United States. The services and capabilities will provide responsive, flexible, adaptive, and timely solutions to satisfy current and future IT requirements. INSCOM provides the Army with a single command to conduct multi-discipline intelligence and security operations. As part of its activities, INSCOM requires support for continued operations and future development of the automated systems necessary to support the INSCOM Black Core (IBC) and Trojan Data networks (TDN).
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Successful candidate will have demonstrated experience with visualization concepts, understands architecture, and has an understanding of JavaScript, XML, Active Directory, VMWARE, and Windows 2016.
Develops and maintains code and associated test scripts to meet defined requirements.
Supports the planning of systems and development deployments as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards.
Evaluates the interface between hardware and software, operational requirements and the characteristics of an overall system.
Establishes and documents system parameters and formats, ensuring the hardware and software systems compatibility and coordinating and/or modifying systems parameters in terms of existing and projected computer capacity and capabilities.
Revises existing systems, testing functionality of the system to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, data integrity, conversion, input requirements, and storage.
Provide the documentation, testing and maintenance of system updates, modifications and configurations.
Practical application and troubleshooting experience with systems that interface with Active Directory, in an enterprise level, globally distributed environment.
Experience running scripts to manage/automate tasks related to Windows platforms.
Customer support experience to include phone, email and in person contact as well as experience assisting end users with new desktop capabilities and/or software.
Collaborates with other members of the Solution Architecture team to complete integration with required core services, system security plan and existing infrastructure.
Education and Certifications
Bachelor-s degree or equivalent in IT related field and/or combination of experience and education.
Baseline certification: DoD 8570 IAT II certification, Security+,One of the following DoD approved certifications is necessary to meet the category/level IAT-2 (DoD 8570) requirement for this position:GSEC, SSCP, CCNA-Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), CASP, GCIH, GCED
Computing Environment certification: MCSE, VMware Certified Professional or Advance Professional certification, Windows 2019, Active Directory.
Experience
10+ years focused on: (1) Architecting, designing, engineering, integrating, deploying, and maintaining data center Infrastructure preferably within the DOD.; (2) Hardware to include compute, network, & storage; (3) Implementing DOD Security Controls; (4) VMware System Administration experience; (5) Developing documentation for architectures, designs, engineering, and operational support
Fifteen (15) or more years engineering experience in the design, development and implementation of software development tools to include developing and testing software solutions; analyzing system performance standards, analyzing systems flow, data usage and work processes; conferring with users and management to derive system requirements; problem investigation and resolution.
Engineering experience with Microsoft Active Directory to include: Granting privileged Access, Configuring Active Directory Services (ADDS), Group Policy, Objects, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), File Sharing services, Active roles Server (ARS).
Experience providing Tier 3 support in an enterprise level, globally distributed environment. Experience creating quality Detailed Design documents, Test Plans, Implementation Plans and Standard Operating Procedures. Demonstrated aptitude for learning and rapidly mastering new applications and technology.
Skills
Ability to harden VMware environments according to DISA STIG
Ability to mentor junior and mid-level team members to be more proficient in the tasks and activities associated with the management of an cloud environment
Experience with cloud/server/network implementation and with Cloud infrastructure Services or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) support.
PLACE OF PERFORMACE
The primary duty location for this position is at Fort Belvoir, VA.
WORK HOURS
Core Hours 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday
SECURITY
Must possess at minimum a TS/SCI Clearance. It is preferred that candidate possess a TS/SCI with a CI Poly security clearance. Personnel must be U.S. citizens and capable of obtaining and maintaining a final TS/SCI security clearance. Additionally, all personnel will require access to NATO classified material and will require read on to NATO.
