Job Description:
The System Engineering & Installation Technician expertly interprets construction drawings, installs data center infrastructure & system equipment, installs fiber optic and system cabling, quality checks work, tests initial network & computing system functionality and performs drawing redlines for deviations required by site conditions. The technician also assembles and installs furniture, fixtures & equipment required to support network and computing systems, deploys user computing & communication equipment and dress desk cabling. Interacts with team lead, project manager, and customer for quality assurance, schedules and technical solutions meet the client requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Interpret constructiondrawingsand performredlinesas required
Installation of data centerinfrastructure, racks, cable trays, and associated equipment
Installation & mounting ofsystem equipment,cabling, rack population/wiring
Installation, testing & labeling offiberoptic cabling, trunks, zone boxes, patch panels, etc.
Familiarity with terminating and testing coppercabling
Initialfunctionalitytesting of network and computing systems
Assembly and installation of furniture, fixtures and equipment supporting IT systems
Deployment & cable dressing of user desk equipment PC, monitors, KVM, VoIP phones, etc.
Interact with sponsors, customers, clients, peers, and supervisors
Collaborate on system testing & troubleshooting to meet customer requirements
Inspect quality of work, propose solutions to installation problems when encountered
Provide quality assurance on site
Ensure project deadlines and performance requirements are met
*Required Qualifications: *
Proven knowledge of current DoD IT systems including NIPRNET, SIPRNET & JWICS technology solutions.
Ability to work within a flexible team environment with excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with all levels of project support staff and stakeholders.
Ability to apply critical thinking skills
Ability to multi-task, and prioritize among several projects while being detail-oriented.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, as well as establish and maintain a strong customer focused working relationship.
Ability to provide instruction regarding setup, testing, calibration and commission of equipment and devices
Ability to be flexible, a team player and willingness to learn in a fast paced environment.
Travel is required
