Job Description:
GDIT is seeking a skilled F5 Systems Engineer to support the CITS contract for USCENTCOM, located in Tampa, Florida. The F5 Systems Engineer will play a vital role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's application delivery and security infrastructure utilizing F5 technologies. Responsibilities include managing F5 hardware and virtual appliances, configurations, and policies critical to the operations of our enterprise environment.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
We are looking for an experienced F5 Systems Engineer with a solid background in designing, deploying, and managing F5 environments. The Engineer will be responsible for:
Implementing, configuring, and maintaining F5 BIG-IP devices, iRules, and virtual appliances across multiple physical sites, adhering to industry best practices and security standards.
Performing regular infrastructure assessments, maintenance, updates, and patches to ensure the security, reliability, and performance of the F5 application delivery and security infrastructure.
Monitoring and optimizing F5 application delivery and security performance, resource utilization, and system availability using F5 tools and industry best practices.
Designing, implementing, and managing F5 networking components such as load balancing, SSL offloading, and application security in alignment with organizational network requirements.
Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to F5 application delivery and security technologies, including connectivity problems, configuration issues, and performance bottlenecks, utilizing root cause analysis methodologies.
Collaborating with other IT teams to design and implement infrastructure solutions that integrate with F5 technologies and align with command requirements.
Providing mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and team members to foster a deeper understanding of F5 technologies and their role within our infrastructure.
Implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions for F5 devices and configurations using F5 technologies and other relevant tools.
Developing and maintaining documentation related to F5 architecture, processes, and procedures, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and organizational standards.
Evaluating and recommending new F5 technologies and solutions to enhance system performance, efficiency, and scalability in line with industry trends and organizational needs.
Supporting projects to enhance the security, efficiency, or capability of the F5 environment, ensuring adherence to project management best practices.
Collaborating with vendors and third-party providers for troubleshooting and issue resolution, maintaining a positive and solution-oriented working relationship.
Ensuring compliance with security policies, regulations, and best practices related to F5 technologies, including NIST, CIS, and F5 guidelines.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Education and/or Certifications: Required:
BS/BA degree required or additional work experience and certifications in lieu of a degree.
Bachelor's degree in IT with 8 years of experience OR 12 years applicable experience.
Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification
F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator (BIG-IP ASAM) or F5 Certified Technical Specialist - Access Policy Manager (CTS-APM)
Desired Certs:
ITIL 4 Foundation Certification

Required Skills:
Demonstrated proficiency in architecting, deploying, and managing F5 BIG-IP infrastructure, adhering to best practices.
Experience with F5 technologies including BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM), BIG-IP Application Security Manager (ASM), BIG-IP Access Policy Manager (APM), and BIG-IP Global Traffic Manager (GTM).
Strong understanding of application delivery and security concepts, practices, and procedures, including load balancing, SSL offloading, and access control.
Ability to review, modify, and prepare comprehensive documentation for F5 tasks and architecture designs.
Desired Skills:
Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, or Terraform for automation tasks and infrastructure-as-code.
Experience with USCENTCOM and understanding of its mission and IT environment.
Clearance Requirement:
Active TS/SCI clearance required
Travel Requirements:
Required USCENTCOM Exercise support of up to 10% Travel during the Year to OCONUS Locations

The likely salary range for this position is $122,366 - $155,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
