Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is seeking a Crew Systems (CS) Engineer to be responsible for Flight Crew related hardware and accommodations for Human Space Flight. This CS Engineer will serve as a key member of the CS team for the Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO) Program and other Human Exploration Programs. The Systems Engineer position is expected to complete work while being reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Works under general supervision. The Systems Engineer is expected to primarily interact with internal company contacts but is expected to be able to interact infrequently with inter- organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters. This position can be filled in Houston, TX, Redondo Beach, CA, Gilbert, AZ or Sterling, VA.
The CS Engineer will contribute to efforts on HALO or other assigned Programs including supporting but not limited to:
Support identification of hardware, testing, and operational needs to support Flight Crews in Human Space Flight Programs to meet and exceed NASA customer requirements and expectations
Support development of specifications, statement of work, requirement documentation for Crew System hardware
Support decomposition of NASA requirements to define HALO specific verification method, verification statements, and subsystem allocations. Support detailed verification planning and implementation
Support development, coordination, and implementation of test programs for hardware qualification and integrated requirements verification.
Generation of technical documentation summarizing analysis, test results, interface definition, and other customer deliverables.
Coordination across Program technical disciplines to obtain, evaluate, and track needed data to support Crew Systems integrated products
Basic Qualifications:
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearance
Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with + 2 years of experience, or Masters of Science degree in technical field with 0 years of experience
Experience with or knowledge of requirements and verification processes
Proficiency in related engineering programs, Microsoft Office or equivalent document generation programs, Microsoft SharePoint or equivalent collaboration tool and DOORs
Familiarity with System Engineering functions across the program life cycle
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Human Spaceflight or crew hardware and operations
Experience with hardware development, qualification and acceptance testing
Experience with Confluence/Jira
Salary Range: $87,200 - $130,800
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
