We are looking for a Sr. System Engineer to join a high performing Agile team using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology. The program uses Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and test automation tools alongside a full suite of team collaboration tools. Program execution follows DEVOPS best practices and employs robust development, test, and production environments. The program provides system engineering, development, test, integration, and operational support to a large, fast-paced program, and is developing infusing new technology and adding advanced capabilities while continuing to support an on-going mission and operational system.
You will possess the high level of in-depth expertise required to design and develop new capabilities for a complex system with exacting interface, performance, and security requirements; provide system engineering expertise in several of the following areas: architecture, design, development, requirements analysis, data flow, network design/implementation, testing, and documentation. She/he will analyze user requirements, system architecture, and system requirements specifications, provide systems engineering expertise, and develop system architecture and system design documentation. Responsibilities include supporting and providing guidance for system development and implementation planning through assessment of system engineering plans and system integration and test plans. You will support the development of system configuration documentation, including designs for capacity and performance planning, and will perform engineering activities such as risk assessments and analyses of alternatives for a variety of system related issues and concerns. Responsibilities may also include helping to create test procedures and defining task success criteria.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
Provide guidance and support for system engineering of large-scale systems, major system elements, and interfacing systems that are part of a large complex network environment with geographically distributed components.
Provide technical guidance and support for future system enhancements and design.
Update System Engineering Documentation.
Provide Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) or similar evaluation methodologies.
Interface with Program Management, System and Software Integration Engineers, Test Engineers, Information Assurance Engineers, and other project team members in an Agile environment.
Develop and implement system engineering practices ensuring the proper degree of engineering rigor is applied to all assigned tasks.
Communicate with and effectively collaborate with internal technical professionals on a day-to-day basis, and with representatives from customer organizations when necessary.
Actively participate in program increment planning and related Agile team activities.
Security Clearance Requirement:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in system engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or a related field and at least twelve (12) to fifteen (15) years of related experience. Additional experience may be substituted for a Degree.
Must have in-depth experience in several of the following areas: system architecture, design and development, requirements analysis, data flow design/analysis, network design/implementation, testing, technical system documentation.
Must have at least seven (7) years of experience working with network design or foundational networking.
Must have at least seven (7) years of experience working on system architecture design, building, and integration.
Must have at least seven (7) years of experience with infrastructure components (Servers, Switches, Firewalls, and other Enterprise Infrastructure hardware).
Must have at least five (5) years of experience as a Senior Architect working on large complex system architectures.
Must have at least five (5) years of hands-on experience building and maintaining Windows and Linux systems (not Help Desk/ticket experience).
Must have requirements verification traceability experience.
Must have experience analyzing user requirements, system architecture, and/or system requirements specifications.
Must have experience in discovery, research and analysis for hardware and software transitions.
Must have experience gather information related to the lifecycle of equipment and software.
Must possess a solid understanding of secure systems engineering and development.
Must be comfortable working on multiple systems and components simultaneously in various configurations.
Must be able to effectively plan and prioritize tasking and communicate clearly regarding technical options and trade-offs.
Must be capable of performing systems engineering activities in support of Agile teams on a large program.
Must be committed to adopting, adhering to, and championing best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with hardware and software maintenance.
Experience transitioning legacy systems into new architectures.
Experience with model-based systems engineering.
Experience with risk management/risk register.
Experience tracking hardware assets and/or software licenses.
Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology or as a member of an Agile team.

Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
