Summary There are two positions being filled in the Pacific Northwest Region, Region 6. For additional information about the duties of this position, please contact Michelle Dragoo at michelle.dragoo@usda.gov Responsibilities Provide direct oversight and management of 8-12 geospatial professionals providing support across 3-4 national forests. Manage the Geospatial program within a geographic service zone. Develop program of work that is in alignment with forest programs of work. Coordinate with multiple forests to resolve conflicting priorities for geospatial requests and data analysis support. Work with DRM and forest leadership to develop and manage work priorities; balancing regional, forest and district geospatial requests. Advise, counsel and assist Forest staff and leadership regarding geospatial project planning including timelines, data analysis capabilities, contracting, and other information management considerations. Ensure interagency policies and procedures, communication procedures, geospatial protocols and training requirements are adhered to and met. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-12 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level. Examples of specialized experience include meeting one or more of the following: Worked with managers and resource specialists to determine type, amount and level of information required to develop and analyze project management alternatives; Managed project timelines and/or deliverables for natural resource related projects; Served as point of contact and maintains liaison the Regional Office (RO), Federal, State, and local governments, learning institutions, the private sector; professional organizations and other individuals concerned with GIS, GPS, remote sensing and mapping; Provided expertise and made recommendations on the development and application of geospatial analysis processes, protocols and solutions to mission critical resource management issues; Provided advice on the implementation, management, analysis, and use of geospatial information. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
