The Opportunity:

Advanced materials explore innovative new materials and novel manufacturing techniques that can dramatically improve many of the Department's capabilities. Materials that have higher strength, lighter weight, higher efficiency, and can handle more extreme temperatures will have the potential to better protect our service members and enhance their ability to accomplish their missions.

The on-site requirement for this position is three days per week minimum, on-site at the Mark Center or Pentagon. Telework options are available within the Washington, D.C. commuting area.
Responsibilities:
As an Advanced Materials Analyst, you will support the office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD R&E) in the following:
Assist in identifying and monitoring baseline financial metrics to measure the value of Advanced Materials investments against strategic goals and objectives.
Facilitate or lead deep dive, cross-organizational teams into high-interest or game-changing technology areas.
Provide analysis and technical/ programmatic support to the Communities of Interest (COI) by objectively reviewing roadmaps and reporting, and providing recommendations for improvement that capture the opportunity, activity, and impact of S&T investments for their respective domains.
Assistance DoD Components comply with OUSD(R&E) data calls and requirements.
Interacts with other Service/Component offices to facilitate issues and responses.
Understand the current state-of-the-art materials for platforms and weapons technology development across the government and private sector to assess the quality and appropriateness of ongoing and planned research.
Maintain broad situational awareness of current and emerging research and development efforts involving the Advanced Materials priority areas, and prepare research and technical analyses to align assessments of new and emerging threats to state-of-the-art materials technologies.
Participate in various working group meetings, provide meeting minutes/action items, and produce draft responses on the action items/tasks.
Qualifications:
Required:
Clearance: TS/SCI is required, although highly specialized candidates with an active DoD Secret clearance may be considered.
Education: A Bachelor's degree in scientific, technical, business management, or other related discipline is preferred.
Ten (10) years of recent and relevant experience.
Proficiency in technical research, an in-depth knowledge of advanced materials and manufacturing processes, and technical writing.
Excellent communication skills, unstructured verbal interactions, briefings, and meeting moderation.
Ability to work independently with junior and senior staff in a distributed environment while maintaining a strong commitment to deliverable schedules.

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$102,900 - $216,200
