Reliability Engineer, Covington, VA
The opportunity:
The Reliability Engineer provides day-to-day technical and engineering support to the maintenance and operating areas. The primary role is to identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. These responsibilities include safety and environmental issues, equipment reliability and run time, equipment improvements, process/equipment troubleshooting, training, and new asset development support
How you will impact WestRock:
Provide day-to-day reliability engineering services in support of plant equipment breakdowns, diagnosing failure modes and prescribing repair procedures.
Implement a root cause analysis program including formal failure incident investigations when appropriate as well as routine low order analysis such as cause/effect, 5-Whys and major plant issue resolution (FMEA, etc).
Provide support to ensure compliance with the Mechanical Integrity Program, Tank Inspection Program and other safety, health, environmental, and quality requirements.
Provide ongoing support and continuous improvement to the maintenance management system database by entering/updating equipment data and by developing/entering/updating preventive maintenance procedures for plant equipment.
Maintain system for assignment criticality codes to mechanical equipment and instrumentation based on RCM (reliability centered maintenance) methodology.
Provide ongoing technical support for the Predictive Maintenance program; including future enhancements to the vibrations analysis, infrared thermography and lubrication management efforts.
Provide maintenance project management leadership including development of maintenance related cost improvement efforts; also provide maintenance technical support on plant capital projects.
Provide technical support for shop repair of major plant equipment and field inspection of new equipment fabrication.
Provide technical support to maintenance planning and scheduling functions.
Continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPu2019s) for maintenance, including procedures for equipment documentation.
What you need to succeed:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 3-5 years experience in Maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
Chemical plant experience preferred.
Background in Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Experience in problem analysis and rotating equipment troubleshooting.
Experience in vibration analysis and failure analysis a plus.
Experience with preventive maintenance program
Experience leading cost improvement activities.
Strong interpersonal, technical and leadership skills.
