Mid-Level Scientist - Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Countermeasures
Location: Reston, VA (On-site)
Clearance Requirements: Top Secret with SCI eligibility and ability to pass a polygraph (Full scope required).
Overview: We are seeking a Mid-Level Scientist to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in the Counter-WMD Target Assessment Technologies Division. The role involves supporting R&D and O&M efforts focused on the characterization, analysis, and defeat of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) threats and Underground Facilities (UGFs). This position offers the opportunity to contribute to national security by providing scientific, technical, and engineering support to innovative technologies aimed at defeating high-value WMD targets.
Responsibilities:
Conduct research, analysis, and assessments of WMD and UGF systems.
Develop and implement models and software tools to assess and disrupt WMD facilities and processes.
Collaborate with the Intelligence Community (IC) to characterize and evaluate adversary WMD capabilities.
Integrate intelligence data to provide vulnerability assessments of WMD-related targets.
Support the testing and validation of counter-WMD and UGF defeat technologies.
Provide engineering and scientific expertise for the development of new technologies to defeat WMD threats.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field.
7-15 years of experience in WMD-related technologies, R&D, or similar technical fields.
Experience with scientific and engineering principles related to WMD, computational fluid dynamics, or finite element analysis.
Proficiency in data analysis, modeling, and the development of technical assessments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with AI/ML applications in defense or counter-WMD systems.
Familiarity with DTRA, DIA, or other IC entities focused on counter-proliferation.
Hands-on experience with software development, data analytics, or advanced computational tools.
Compensation: Negotiable based on experience, competitive to industry standards.
