Job Summary
The Department of Technology Services in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) at the University of Michigan seeks a Lead Business Intelligence Analyst (BI Analyst Lead) to join our Web & Applications Development Services (W&ADS) team. The College of LSA consists of close to 100 departments, centers, and programs. The (W&ADS) team provides administrative information services to the College, including business intelligence.
You will report to the Application Programming Manager of the .Net and BI Team in the Technology Services department. The salary range for this position is $100,500 - $121,250. The salary for the position is based on the experience of the selected candidate.

LSA offers flexible work options. The W&ADS Team does a significant portion of their work remotely with an expectation of occasional work on campus. To support well-being, LSA has a communication standard that limits non-essential emails to weekday business hours.
Responsibilities *
Create high-impact tools, dashboards, reports, and data processes (50%): The lead analyst will work with all levels of college customers, including senior college administration, to generate collaborative data and reporting solutions and guide customers to good outcomes. You will work independently, with limited direction from management, and you will analyze, guide, recommend, develop, and create data-related tools that enable customers to support college and department operations and the college and university missions. This will include dashboards, data processes, ad hoc and canned queries and reports, and complicated data analysis often bridging two or more data areas (HR, Finance, Fundraising, Facilities, Admissions, Research, and Student).
Leads projects and customer request intake (20%): You will manage cross-functional unit projects and/or teams which include project planning, task management, status reporting, meeting facilitation, etc. which will include college administrators and subject matter experts in college operations. You will monitor customer requests and assign them to members of the team to complete. You will assist and support customers at all levels of the college in discovering data needs and guiding solutions.
Represent LSA business intelligence in college and campus-wide efforts (20%): The lead analyst will act as a technical expert, collaborating with college faculty, staff, and administration to identify data and tools that enhance productivity. They will represent LSA's data and reporting interests in college and cross-campus projects and initiatives.
Mentor staff (10%): You will coach and mentor other team members to enhance the overall data reporting environment of the College.
Required Qualifications *
A bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent job experience.
8 years of related experience working with information systems. It is critical to have a clear understanding and vision of how best to deploy information to an end-user.
8 years of experience developing reports and dashboards in data, reporting, and visualization tools like Denodo, Tableau, PowerBI, Cognos, Qlik, BusinessObjects, etc.
Demonstrated advanced work in reporting and dashboarding projects.
Expert knowledge of SQL.
Experience with relational data modeling, data management, and databases.
2 years of experience developing complex dashboards, reports, or data processes with demonstrated ability to understand business requirements and generate solutions to meet those needs.
Customer service experience and interpersonal skills and experience in effectively communicating complex technical concepts and information to a wide range of users
Experience leading small projects and ability to work with faculty and staff at all levels; demonstrated ability to work under pressure of deadlines and competing priorities
Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously while delivering results and communicating project statuses to stakeholders
Excellent listening, written, and oral communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts and details to non-technical audiences
Desired Qualifications *
Experience with data extraction tools like Denodo, Informatica, SSIS, Alteryx, etc.
Experience with the UM Data Delivery Environment is a plus.
Experience in Tableau and SAP BusinessObjects.
