HOW A SCIENTIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Initiates and executes scientific research and/or development studies. Analyzes problems and applies theoretical techniques to develop solutions.
Will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in an interactive lab environment, contributing to collaborative projects
Work products and documents related to developing research plans
Participates in the development of laboratory procedures
Coordinate with team to define experiments, achieve objectives and execute work following.
Synthesize mRNA using in vitro transcription (IVT) system.
Process rodent tissue samples for molecular biology analysis (protein, mRNA and DNA extraction).
Cell imaging by fluorescence microscopy and imaging analysis. Perform molecular biology techniques including PCR, cloning, and sequence analysis.
Conduct diverse biochemical assays including ELISA, reporter assays, western blotting, and qPCR.
Grow and maintain mammalian and bacterial cell cultures.
Transfection of DNA and RNA into mammalian cells.
Willing to work with rodents and swine in a laboratory setting
Proficient in small animal surgery
Familiar with standard rodent behavior paradigms
Familiar with biosample collection and tissue dissection
Experience in immunohistochemistry
Molecular assay experience desired but not required
Help prepare presentations which summarize procedures, study results, and data interpretation as needed.
Participates in the development of laboratory procedures
Deliver high quality results in an accurate and a time sensitive manner
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Bachelor/Masters degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field. 1-2 years relevant laboratory experience in academic or industrial setting. Experience with standard cloning techniques, vector design, sequence analysis, DNA and RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, ligation, restriction digestion, PCR.
Experience in mammalian cell culture and transfection techniques.
Experience in basic Protein characterization skills (SDS-PAGE, Western blot, BCA, ELISA).
Experience in with qPCR using TaqMan needed. Handling animal tissue and blood samples. Transfection of plasmid/siRNA/mRNA into mammalian cells.
Familiar with molecular biology software.
Security Clearance Level: ability to obtain a secret clearance

The likely salary range for this position is $60,549 - $71,300. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
