We are looking to add a Principal RF Communication Engineer I to our team. In this position, you will work closely with the CesiumAstro technical and strategy teams to prioritize and develop new algorithms, technologies, and approaches to solve leading edge problems in wireless communications with a strong focus on research, analysis, development, and test of satellite systems.
The successful candidate will communicate effectively with team members and internal stakeholders, as well as participate in authoring content. As such, excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- MS or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum of 7 years of RandD experience in space communications with a Masters; 3 year with a Doctorate.
Very strong background in digital signal processing, statistics, linear algebra, communication theory, machine learning, and L1/L2 algorithms.
Proficiency in at least one scripting and one programming language (ideally Python and C++) and corresponding SW development practices (requirement definition, version control, code review, issue tracking, etc.).
Deep understanding of RF concept, impairments, and the resulting impact on baseband processing.
Background and practical experience with FPGA and modern vector processing engines.
Knowledge of satellite-communications standards (NR NTN, DVB-S2x, CCSDS).
Ability to carry out independent research and collaborate with a team.
Desire to bring research ideas to prototype level.
Ability to hold a security clearance.
Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
Willingness to perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management.
Ability to define work direction, track milestones, and demonstrate progress on large open-ended projects.
Sense of urgency, with the ability to work well under pressure.
The ability to work well in teams, with peers and management.
