DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for administering and maintaining the organization's SCCM infrastructure, which is crucial for deploying software, managing updates, and ensuring endpoint compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SCCM Administration: Install, configure, and maintain SCCM infrastructure, including primary and secondary sites, distribution points, and management points. Monitor overall environment health and performance.
Server Management: Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of server operating systems and applications using SCCM.
Patch Management: Manage patching for Windows and third-party applications to maintain security and compliance. Ensure testing of patches and updates before deployment, according to standards in a documented, approved process.
Software Deployment: Develop, test, and deploy software packages and to client machines. Create and manage application deployment processes, including custom scripts for complex installations.
Operating System Deployment (OSD): Develop/maintain OSD processes for deploying new or updated operating systems. Create/maintain task sequences for operating system deployment and configuration, including customizations.
Server and Endpoint Security and Compliance: Configure and enforce compliance baselines to ensure all servers and devices meet security and configuration standards. Track compliance reporting and work with desktop teams to remediate non-compliant devices.
Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor SCCM infrastructure and server performance, generating reports and dashboards to track system health and compliance.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to SCCM server and endpoint operations, providing technical support to other IT teams as needed.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of SCCM configurations, processes, and procedures.
*You must be eligible to validate contract work experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management, and Information Systems (MIS) or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE
At least five (5) years of technology experience supporting IT infrastructure including networks, security, and hardware.
System-specific technical certifications will often be required.
Greater than 5 years of directly applicable experience may be considered for substitution of up to two (2) years of the education requirement.
LICENSE
A valid Texas Driver License and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
Must be able to pass a criminal background check, obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required.
PREFERENCES
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
Preferences shall be given to those with the following qualities:
Experience supporting IT infrastructure servers in on premise and cloud environments.
Certifications for SCCM administration (MCSA, MCSE, and MCSD would be a plus) and SCCM work experience (design, configuration and administration) is required.
