Houston, TX, USA | Full Time
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Orbital Debris Radar Engineer to join our team with JETS II teammate company, Nexus Solutions. This position will work on the JETS Orbital Debris Research team supporting the NASA Orbital Debris Program Office, a delegated program under the Office of Safety and Mission Assurance at NASA HQ.
This senior level role will serve as a key debris research engineer, leading the effort to better understand the orbital debris environment through radar observation measurements.
The selected applicant will:
Work closely with our NASA customer's Orbital Debris Program Office and provide technical and scientific leadership
Utilize knowledge of radar theory and practical applications to support characterization of the space debris environment using the Haystack Ultrawideband Satellite Imaging Radar (HUSIR), the Goldstone bi-static radar and other large radar systems, including signal processing and analysis to determine characteristics such as radar cross section (RCS) and orbit information
Actively work on new initiatives involving both hardware and software development, including investigating potential capabilities of additional configurations and/or sensors
Support laboratory radar measurements to facilitate orbital debris model updates
Help to expand on and forge new relationships with those in the radar community, e.g. MIT Lincoln Lab, the military (USSF, USAF, USN), and other civil and international agencies
Routinely present work products and results in both written and verbal form to JETS colleagues, the NASA customer and through NASA publications and conferences
Work with the JETS radar lead, the NASA customer and across other interdisciplinary teams to analyze and develop understanding of the debris environment
