Job Overview
We are currently seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced individual for the position of Associate Director, Strategic Sourcing - R&D and Supply Chain/TOQ.
The Associate Director Strategic Sourcing R&D and Supply Chain/Technical Operations & Quality (TOQ) will drive value through the design and implementation of business aligned sourcing strategies across operations in North America and Europe and in collaboration with global colleagues in Japan when required. This role will partner with and influence a broad network of key R&D and Supply Chain/TOQ business leaders across affiliates to drive strategy implementation. Strong collaboration with counterparts and business partners is essential for success. Responsible for negotiating and contracting with the supply base for R&D and Supply Chain/TOQ Services, ensuring alignment with the strategic sourcing category strategies and overall business plans.
This person will continually seek out opportunities to be a proactive advisor to the business. They must maintain deep knowledge and expertise in the dynamics of the supply markets and delivery models of suppliers / agencies and must be comfortable leading analytics efforts to proactively identify sourcing opportunities. They must provide active category leadership and change management support that challenges traditional spending behavior, service level definition, and policy setting to enable productivity and efficiency improvements. The Associate Director, Strategic Sourcing R&D and Supply Chain/TOQ must drive compliance with best-in-class sourcing processes.
This role requires an experienced sourcing leader to drive the delivery of leading sourcing & procurement services to business partners across North American affiliates, including alignment of business requirements, strategic sourcing expertise, supplier market intelligence, financial productivity, supplier performance and risk mitigation. The Associate Director, Strategic Sourcing R&D and Supply Chain/TOQ must be a change agent. This person must lead by example and their direction must be in sync with the overarching direction and evolution for the Strategic Sourcing organization.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement sourcing category strategies and priorities that align with those of the functional goals & objectives for the R&D and Supply Chain/TOQ departments
Establish effective ongoing relationships with senior stakeholders in all business units to ensure Strategic Sourcing activities effectively support functional strategies
Drive greater maturity of category management capabilities and actively support the transformation of our shared services organization
Provide active category leadership and change management support that challenges traditional spending behavior, service level definition, and policy setting to enable productivity and efficiency improvements
Define and implement a strong concept of key supplier management that enables strategic relationships with partners delivering a sustainable competitive advantage; maintain particular focus on supplier risk and performance management
Maintain deep knowledge and expertise in the dynamics of the supply markets and delivery models of suppliers / agencies
Leads spend analytics and category governance efforts to generate sourcing insights and opportunities
Lead strategic and complex competitive events and commercial agreements as needed. Promote best practices and rigor within the team for development of business cases, cost analysis including total cost of ownership TCO and make vs. buy decisions, execution of RFx events, drafting of SOWs, master agreements, contract negotiation, etc.
Develop and implement relevant global, regional, and local category strategies where appropriate, leveraging affiliate volumes and synergies at the highest possible level
Define and implement guided buying concepts and procurement channels for realization of sourcing strategies and overall business value
Ensure sourcing practices are in accordance with corporate ethics, financial policy and internal control requirements
Pursue ongoing development of relevant skills, including learning agility, using data to provide insights, business partnering, change and project management, category management and strategic sourcing in order to realize optimal results

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
Relevant experience(s): 7-10 years with deep Strategic Sourcing & Procurement experience across a range of categories. R&D and Supply Chain/TOQ sourcing experience preferred. Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Medical or Life Sciences experience a bonus. the educational background required for the role.
Other requirements (licenses, certifications, specialized training, and physical or mental abilities required)
CPSM/CPM or other sourcing accreditations a plus. Work hours may include meetings scheduled outside normal working hours. Travel up to 10%.

The base salary range for this role is $145,400to $181,700. Base salary is part of our total rewards package which also includes the opportunity for merit-based salary increases, short incentive plan participation, eligibility for our 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances and leaves provided in line with your work state. Our robust time-off policy includes unlimited paid time off, 11 paid holidays plus additional time off for a shut-down period during the last week of December, 80 hours of paid sick time upon hire and each year thereafter. Total compensation, including base salary to be offered, will depend on elements unique to each candidate, including candidate experience, skills, education and other factors permitted by law.
