Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our MISSION is to help ensure the security of the United States and its allies by providing high-hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities through operations, engineering, education, field, and integration services and by acting as environmental stewards to the Site's Cold War legacy. Responsibilities
Manages a technical workforce that is responsible for the assembly, operation, maintenance, and upgrades of the Scorpius linear induction accelerator.
Some travel will be expected to understand the work that is being performed by our technical workforce at LLNL, LANL, and SNL, and to build professional relationships with subject matter experts at each of our lab partner sites.
Interfaces with project and line management teams to identify technical skillset needs and leadership needs within the ESCE Operations workforce to support multiple pulsed power test beds at the NNSS and in North Las Vegas.
Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Responsible for recruiting employees based on continuous assessment of technical needs; identifying and assigning appropriate hazard mitigation training based on specific job assignments; and creating career development opportunities.
Promotes and drives collaboration among Scorpius, ZEUS, and Cygnus machine subject matter experts in an ongoing effort to integrate and centralize training programs where feasible, and to leverage common skillsets required across each platform to move toward a more unified pulsed power diagnostic fielding team.
May be expected to own technical scope of work at the control account manager level or project manager level, responsible for scheduling, planning resources, budgeting, tracking & reporting on performance, and identifying & applying corrective actions.
Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
Responsible for planning and maintaining work systems, procedures, and policies that enable and encourage the optimum performance of its people and other resources.

Implement applicable environment, safety, health, and quality requirements; emphasize the safety of each employee, and the protection of equipment and property in area of responsibility. Assure that appropriate procedures, training, equipment, warnings, and tools are provided to employees to permit work to be performed safely. Promote and actively participate in the MSTS safety concept.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 11 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
Demonstrated skill to plan, organize, lead, and monitor a wide variety of team efforts to their successful completion.
Documented experience and proven ability to effectively monitor project progress and initiate actions to ensure milestones and schedules are met and work is performed within budget.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Must possess interpersonal communication skills to promote an open and informal communication environment.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and prioritize work, manage multiple tasks and changing priorities, mediate conflict and apply leadership concepts and techniques.
Demonstrated skill to establish and maintain strong and effective customer relations and to anticipate change and adjust promptly and effectively.
Demonstrated experience to apply the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies required to successfully perform the job.
The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada).Area 06 is in the forward areas of the NNSS.
Work at remote locations such as but not limited to the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada is required in support of these functions.
Work schedule for this position will be 4/10's, Monday - Thursday (subject to change).
Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in10 CFR Part 707.4 (http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?SID=14b1c770db022992d237769fbe9fc519&mc=true&node=se10.4.707 14&rgn=div8) , "Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites," will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Annual salary range for this position is:$121,326.40 - $194,126.40.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
