Role Purpose
The Music Rights Specialist, Music Business & Legal Affairs will provide comprehensive music clearance, operational support and vital administrative services. This position will own vendor setup, payment processing, as well as thorough tracking and review of music cue sheet submission. This position is not a music supervision role.
Job Duties
Provide complete music services for client(s), including but not limited to the following areas:
Provide comprehensive, detailed and expert support regarding all music use
Collaborate with various personnel, internal and external, on music evaluation; ensuring consistent practices and providing expert info
Support and/or process music license requests, pick-ups, licenses, and more
Prepare and send out related music clearance correspondence, such as intake, checks, licenses
Process payments, set up vendors in system, and interact with AP team
Own all facets of cue sheet training, supervision, and administration, including: creation, review, research, revision, submission, archiving and analysis
Use internal systems and provide support/input necessary for expansion and upgrades
Process work for hires including registering cues, uploading fully executed agreements to ELF, maintaining detailed, organized files and securing the physical elements
Be internally and externally focused, maintain industry contacts and have a solid understanding of music, the music industry and our business (e.g., internal partners, publishers, labels, music libraries and other related vendors)
Ensure that owned music elements are properly fingerprinted, tagged, registered, archived, etc.
Perform inquiry/claim intake and resolution
Assist clients with production music library needs
Liaise, supervise and/or train other areas, both internally and externally, that overlap on music matters
Collaborate with Music Library and other areas as they relate, as well as support production and promo
Organize and maintain tracking grids, cost charts and database for production music usage and licensing
Assist with other department projects as they arise, which may include: research, cue sheets, music licensing negotiation, music clearance estimates, and liaison with other departments/vendors
Basic Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
2+ years experience in music clearance for TV production or related area
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)

Knowledge of production music libraries, and the current market rate of artists and publishing catalogs
Diversified knowledge of contemporary music, as well as classic music catalogs and their applicable record labels
Ability to discuss and use various custom software
Comfortable with providing input on upgrades, to internal and external IT development personnel
A passion for all things music
Additional Requirements
Must have ability to work flexible hours due to production schedules; including evenings and holidays
Must be willing to potentially travel
HYBRID: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
