Job Description:
Smithsonian Construction Management Services program will provide construction management support services to the Smithsonian Institution facilities in New York City.

The ideal candidate will be able to:
Review and manage Critical Path Management (CPM) schedules for the multi-discipline construction project. Informs COTR of progress and identifies potential schedule delays. Responds to inquiries and resolves scheduling problems.
Monitor daily the construction activities of the general contractor, sub-contractors, and consultants, providing detailed technical reports of such activities, photos, taking necessary action to correct deficiencies, and identifying areas of potential problems.
Develop and review statements of work for accuracy and completeness, including field sketches, CAD drawings, supplemental specifications required to support SOWs and supplemental construction directives.
Work closely with the COTR to communicate and coordinate with Office of Protective Services (OPS), Office of Safety, Health, and Environment Management (OSHEM) and Office Facilities, Maintenance and Reliability (OFMR) and other departments.
Works closely with COTR and or Associate Director (AD) to ensure that the contract specifications and plans are implemented accurately and efficiently in compliance with legal codes, regulatory requirements and meet engineering and technical standards,
Continually reviews engineering and technical specifications of the project to determine accuracy as compared to actual on-site conditions. In consultation with the COTR, takes corrective action as required, revising specifications or calculations, and coordinating such. Monitoring work being performed and site conditions for compliance with safety and engineering.
Establish and monitor punch list and testing activities in compliance with the contractor documents.
Review statements of work for accuracy and completeness.
Provide contract administration services such as review of submittals, requests for information (RFI), value engineering proposals, correspondence preparation, etc.
Maintain as-built information for SI Field Office. Periodically check the general contractor's as-built information to confirm all information is being recorded with clear documentation.
Filing all documents relating to construction projects
Research files as needed for issue resolution.
Work will require bending, stooping, climbing, crawling and the ability to lift and carry 35 pounds.
Requirements:
BS in Engineering or Construction Management or related field: Architecture, Engineering Technology (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience as a Construction Manager, Project Manager, or Project Field Engineer on commercial/industrial type facilities contracts valued in excess of $IO million.
Broad knowledge of MEP with experience in electrical panel/lighting panel, generator and AHU replacement/upgrades.
Construction experience involving architectural/historic preservation
Ability and willingness to traverse construction jobsites.
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) / Registered Architect (RA) desired.
Certification as a PMP with the Project Management Institute (PMI) or CCM with the Construction Management Association of American (CMAA) is highly desired.
Prior experience working on federal government projects desired.

Salary Range:
$117,000.00 - $210,600.00
