** Work arrangement/location: Ideally, this will be a hybrid position requiring in-office work three days every week at the Buffalo, NY or the NY, NY office. If the final candidate is not near the Buffalo or NYC office, however, there is a possibility that this would be a remote position.
Overview:
Identifies opportunities and solution options for technological and data support, including system/application support, data sourcing, and automation.
Primary Responsibilities:
Administer and maintain departmental processes supporting these activities while adhering to Bank standards and application specific configuration. Oversee documentation efforts and maintain appropriate controls.
Conduct quality assurance reviews on data feeds and rectify inconsistent or erroneous data to ensure accuracy of data used in these analyses; investigate and respond to ad-hoc data questions.
Lead design and implementation of complex data structures; ensure appropriate change management/maintenance is applied to data structures. Manage all technical aspects of the key applications in the department including installation, setup, design and troubleshooting.
Manage moderately complex Department projects and initiatives. Present data, results and/or recommendations.
Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree and minimum of 4 years' relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree a combined minimum of 8 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 4 years' relevant work experience
Track record of expert ability to source, manage and analyze large data sets (SQL, Teradata, Snowflake, Azure or equivalent), with careful attention to detail
Track record of expert ability to manage and support credit risk model implementation and execution platforms (SAS, Python, R or equivalent)
Excellent interpersonal skills, with an equally strong desire to learn
Advanced computer skills and strong knowledge of database and programming languages

Education and Experience Preferred:
Bachelor's degree with coursework and proven proficiency in Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, Management Information Systems or related subject area
Minimum of 6 years' data analysis experience and/or prior experience in banking or financial services industry
Programming experience using reporting or visualization software
Advanced knowledge of database (SQL, Teradata, Snowflake, Azure or equivalent) and programming languages (SAS, Python, R or equivalent)
Experience in mathematical modeling of financial instruments
Track record for being able to work autonomously, work within a team environment, exhibiting demonstrated leadership and a strong desire to learn and contribute to a group
Proven experience in leading medium-sized projects

The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above corresponds to our national pay range for this role. The specific pay range applicable to you may vary based on your location.
