As the Senior Engineer - NCMPA1, you will be at the forefront of managing NCMPA1's joint ownership interest in the Catawba Nuclear Station. The employee will provide essential technical services to other non-operating owners of the Catawba Nuclear Station, ensuring that all costs are justified and NCMPA1 maximizes its surplus sales benefits. Responsibilities
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure Excellence and Compliance: Oversee engineering, construction, operational, outage activities, and insurance programs at the Catawba and McGuire Nuclear Stations to ensure adherence to project agreements and maintain high standards.
Financial Oversight: Review project construction and operational costs, ensuring they align with contractual agreements and are reasonable. Monitor Interconnect Services costs for compliance.
Strategic Recommendations: Provide insightful recommendations on capital additions and third-party contracts for the Catawba Nuclear Station, directly influencing project decisions.
24/7 On-Call Support: Be a vital part of the on-call team, responding to system conditions, operator needs, and equipment failures. Monitor and control distributed generation, ensuring the smooth operation of NCMPA1 and NCEMPA control systems.
Collaborative Reviews: Participate in monthly reviews of billed project expenses and contract issues with Catawba co-owners.
Regulatory Compliance: Complete NERC compliance activities related to nuclear plant interface coordination and other standards for ElectriCities.
Budget Analysis: Provide and analyze project-related budget information, aiding in expenditure projections and revenue requirements.
Relationship Building: Maintain positive professional relationships with Generation and Transmission System operators and project co-owners.
Site Representation: Represent NCMPA1 at the Catawba Nuclear Station, coordinating all on-site activities of ElectriCities personnel.
Continuous Learning: Keep project site activities and regulatory changes up-to-date in order to provide accurate information and reports to management and stakeholders.
Team Collaboration: Foster an environment of teamwork and accountability, acting as a coach and technical resource for less experienced colleagues.
Controls:
Work under the guidance of the Manager, Projects & Contracts, who provides professional oversight and approves requests for time off. This is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Physical Requirements:
The Senior Engineer - NCMPA1 must maintain the physical condition necessary to perform tasks in an office setting such as operating a personal computer, keyboard, and other peripheral equipment. The ability to frequently walk around the Catawba Nuclear Station with a high sensitivity to and awareness of safety is critical. Periodic travel is required to other NC locations as well as other locations within the U.S. for meetings and/or training and development purposes.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent electric utility industry experience.
Minimum 5 years in electric utility project management, construction, and operational methods.
Preferred experience in power generation plants.
Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted badge access for the Catawba Nuclear Station.
Strong safety background and security clearance.
Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service, accept responsibility, and work independently.
