The Family Service Worker provides comprehensive services to engage families in their own development to strengthen their family systems, protect the health and well-being of their children, and improve their economic status and conditions through community education, services, referrals and goal-setting.
This is done by managing an ongoing case analysis of families, determining their needs, and working with all family members to meet specific needs.
The Family Service Worker mobilizes activities with other agencies in the four-county service area, such as the Department of Social Services (DSS), Employment Security Commission (ESC), Vocational Rehabilitation, community colleges, etc. Home visits typically once per quarter are also required.
What You'll Have:
A Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field.
OR AA degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field with a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or related field.
Have two or more years of experience in case management and working with low-income families.
Must have basic knowledge of government assistance programs and non-profits, faith-based organizations and other services.
Excellent skills in judgment and mediation for the family, with the ability to determine barriers that block the achievement of the family becoming self-sufficient.
Willingness to work with the economically disadvantaged, including elderly and disabled individuals.
Valid background clearance.
