Department Summary:
U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) and Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Operations Department (N257) provides a range of systems engineering, data analytics, architecture design, model-based systems engineering, cybersecurity and cyber operations, network communications, and operational command and control (C2), expertise in supporting development and integration of our nation's nuclear and electromagnetic spectrum capabilities. The primary sponsor organizations include U.S. Strategic Command, the Nuclear C3 Enterprise Center, and the Joint Electromagnetic Spectrum (JESMO) Enterprise Center (JEC).
Roles and Responsibilities:
Qualified candidates will have a strong technical background or relevant experience in one or more of the following: cyber strategy development, cyber operations, network communications and computer forensics analysis with demonstrated experience in how to assess overall mission level impact. Selected candidate(s) will work closely with the team of experienced engineers at the MITRE Omaha location, as well as other mission partners across MITRE, in support of USSTRATCOM, NEC, and JEC sponsors. Candidates must be able to work collaboratively, demonstrating strong teamwork and cooperation with MITRE, military, and industry experts to address critical mission needs; provide options which anticipate operational needs, and identify relevant emerging methods that address USSTRATCOM mission challenges.
Selected candidates will demonstrate the following:
Domain/Technical Competence Experience with one or more of the following areas: (1) Cyber Operations (2) Resilient Communications (3) Network Communications (4) Computer Science (5) Electrical/Computer Engineering
Collaboration. Engage and collaborate with engineers and planners, subject matter experts, specialists, and industry professionals. Leverage MITRE technical expertise from the Labs, capabilities from the MITRE Platforms, and other sponsor efforts to support the FFRDC value proposition.
Sponsor Experience. Comfortably and respectfully engage with military and civilian leaders and engineers, as well as industry representatives. background. Present results in an intuitive, actionable manner that can be understood by all sponsor audiences regardless of their technical expertise.
Flexibility and Suitability. Be able to modify and alter course as the environment and sponsor priorities shift. Understand the power of reach-back and be an effective conduit to bring the talent forward to execute at the right time. Operate within USSTRATCOM culture and be sensitive to boundary conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience, or an advanced degree with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Strong cyber security background
Experience with network engineering
Conduct product assessments, vulnerability analysis or penetration testing on commercial devices
Demonstrated ability to work in dynamic and multi-disciplinary environments.
Must be able to work in a collaborative environment and adjust to changing deadlines and priorities to accomplish the customer mission.
Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a technical domain, such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering (or similar field) with 5 years of experience; 3 years of related experience with a Master's Degree, or PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step
Active TS/SCI clearance
Some RF engineering experience
Some Digital Forensic experience
Some Machine Learning experience
Proven ability to provide objective solutions and recommendations to address customer challenges.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective technical presentation skills
Knowledge and experience working with a wide variety of interagency and intelligence community partners.
Previous experience within Combatant Commands
Self-starter, with an eagerness to work with ambiguity and imperfect information.
