As a Linux/NixOS Specialist, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of various NixOS systems. You will collaborate with various stakeholders to derive requirements, plan and execute their development, test them in lab and real-world environments. Additionally, you will be responsible for hardening these systems to meet cybersecurity requirements and providing documentation.
Essential Functions
Setup and maintain various NixOS system configurations and installation images; deploying as needed to designated hardware and debugging as necessary.
Setup and maintain version control for the NixOS system configurations, as well as generating documentation of configuration changes and configuration management of fielded equipment.
Generate documentation/artifacts needed for cyber security accreditation.
Assist with setting up lab test environments, including companion hardware.
Maintaining current knowledge and understanding of security best practices to offer the best solutions and continuing improvement to systems.
Approximately 15% travel will be required: CONUS.

Education and Experience:
Associate's degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
Experience with configuring and deploying NixOS Linux systems.
Strong understanding of operating systems, Linux networking, and electronic systems.
4 years of experience with maintaining Linux systems.
Relevant certifications are a plus.
Due to federal contracting requirements, must be a US Citizen.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Must possess, or be able to qualify for a Secret Security Clearance.
Working knowledge of git or other similar version control systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to pick up new skills and learn about technologies complimentary to this roll.
Preferred but not Required Qualifications
Familiarity with commonly used datalink radios (Silvus Streamcaster, Persistent Systems Wave Relay, Trellisware TSM-X, etc.)
Familiarity with Cisco IOS routers and switches.
Familiarity with General Dynamics TACLANE encryptors.
Knowledge of or experience with unmanned aircraft systems.
