Job Description:
As a Sr. Associate, Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) Engineer, you will provide 1st shift support to the EMI laboratory team while engaging in production, R&D, and qualification testing. Ensuring compliance to contractual specifications through development, validation, and execution of test requirements.
The ideal candidate will plan, prioritize, and organize available resources to meet Group and Company electromagnetic interference/compatibility (EMI/EMC) test requirements for both engineering and qualification projects. The Engineer will support the Group with technical guidance, conduct of testing, documentation of test results and leadership by presenting a positive image of the Group.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the setup and conduct of assigned test projects.
Provides assistance/guidance to test technician(s)/support engineer(s) in the setup and conduct of tests.
Ensures test technician(s)/support engineer(s) understand test requirements and method of conducting tests.
Provides support in the setup and conduct of test projects.
Responsible for the quality of work performed by the Group.
Review test data to ensure accuracy prior to moving to the next task.
Alerts client and supervision of any out-of-tolerances or other anomalies and documents appropriately (notice-of-anomaly or test discrepancy report)
Prepares "Basis of Estimates" and "Cost Estimates" in support of proposals.
Represents the Group and Company in a professional disciplined manner.
Adheres to plans and schedules (discusses with supervision any proposed deviations prior to action being taken)
Does not make commitments to clients or prospective clients without first obtaining approval of laboratory manager.
Plans ahead with client to facilitate test project.
Responsible for the generation of test plans/procedures and test reports
Ability to consult and perform test efforts involving conducted emissions, conducted susceptibility, radiated emissions, radiated susceptibility, electrostatic discharge, and lightning indirect effects.
Coordinate test efforts through all phases of the development and qualification process.
Capable of debugging test setups and laboratory equipment needed to support EMI testing.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience OR Graduate Degree or equivalent with 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
2+ years of experience in product testing.
2+ years of experience with and knowledge of Microsoft applications and computer network environments.
Ability to obtain a DOD Secret Security Clearance
Must be a United States Citizen.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to frequently move test equipment weighing up to 32 pounds to test benches or to carts for transport to other areas of the facility. Occasionally lift equipment greater than 25 pounds with assistance.
Ability to occasionally position self by climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Constantly operate a computer and read testing procedures off a monitor.
Ability to stand or sit for long periods as testing requires.
Capability to move about inside lab, office, and manufacturing environments.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (preferred) from ABET accredited university program.
Experience reviewing and analyzing test data and work to disposition anomalies.
Familiar with military and aerospace standards related to EMI/EMC testing: MIL-STD-461, DO-160
Ability to identify, address, and contribute to systems and process changes in job area.
