Roles and Responsibilities
The Sr Staff Engineer - NGP Performance Lead will be the focal point for technical execution, scheduling, and cost tracking of NGP performance activities. Responsibilities include Interface with systems organization on technical issues, technical guidance of the NGP performance team, and serve as NGP performance control account manager (CAM). Activities will focus on bringing the NGP design through the detailed design phases of work leading to test. Activities include:
Focal point for Systems and design requests for the NGP engine
Integrate with the Subsection Manager to prioritize tasks and track execution
Provide technical guidance and oversight of tasks
Lead and oversee studies to evaluate alternative design options, recommend preferred approaches, assure accuracy of results, assess, and communicate risks
Mentor less experienced engineers
Provide various options to solve performance issues encountered, coordinate with affected IPTs
Develop clear presentations in support of the program
Present in technical program reviews
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated by the team consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Support test planning
Establish and grow working relationships with various internal and/or external interfaces
Track monthly financial status
Support of monthly program reviews
Maintain tracking of the status of performance vs requirement for program scorecards
Assure CDRL for the group are delivered on time
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Computer Science from an accredited university or college
US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Government Security Clearance
A minimum of 7 years' experience in an engineering position
Desired Characteristics
Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college
Experience with system level thermodynamic modeling and/ordata analysis activities
Working knowledge of NPSS, Python, C++, programming languages.
Working knowledge of data plotting tools
Working knowledge of thermodynamics and aerodynamics
Strong oral and written communication skills
