The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Sr. General Maintenance Worker to support our government customer located in Summit (Maui, Hawai'i).
Responsible for all types of rough and finished carpentry, painting, roofing, sheet metal work, plumbing, inside and outside of buildings and structures.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Make initial evaluations and obtain proper assistance when confronted with problem situations.
Construct, repairs, modifies, and maintains buildings, parts of building, sheds, docks, and temporary structures.
Perform light to moderate facility repair work to include basic carpentry work, basic plumbing repairs, drywall repairs, painting, changing light bulbs, adjusting doors and locks and other similar repairs as required.
Assist in performing preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities systems such as filter replacement, belt replacement, basic pump repairs, inspections etc., as required.
Assist in completion of facilities related projects and equipment and system repairs as required.
Assist in installation of new equipment and systems as required.
Respond to all types of emergency situations, water, electrical, wind, storm, etc.
Repair or build shelves crates, benches, furniture, and cabinets.
Measures, lays out, or machine cuts wood, tile, plastics, and other materials.
Install belts, change oil, filters and make minor adjustment s to fans, and A/C units are required.
Constructs forms, batter boards, sub-bases, and screeds for concrete work.
Finishes concrete masonry, and grouting.
Repair and patch drywall, finish, and paint as required.
Constructs and/or maintains signs, monuments, and set-in-place flagpoles.
Operates all types of power and hand woodworking tools, paint sprayers, concrete mixers, and forklifts.
Must be available and able to respond to emergency call-ins when required.
Must participate in an annual medical evaluation & meet all the necessary medical requirements to wear negative pressure respirators and perform the physical requirements of the job.
Must pass the required negative pressure respirator fit test and maintain the requirement.
Must be physically able to climb all types of ladders, a-frame, vertical, extension etc.
Must be physically able to climb up on and maneuver on raised walkways and platforms with limited access.
Other duties as assigned, by Supervisor.
Environmental Factors: Works in indoor and outdoor environments that contain excessive heat, cold and humidity, excessive dampness, electrical energy, dust, fumes, solvents grease, oils, moving machinery with moving parts, moving object or vehicles and slippery or uneven surfaces.
Physical Effort: Works from ground level, ladders, and platforms on equipment and systems where parts are hard-to-reach. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally over fifty pounds. Standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and stretching for prolonged periods will be necessary.
REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Five (5) years of progressive experience in building repair and maintenance or carpentry work.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Ability to speak, read, and comprehend English.
Skill in the use of hand and power tools commonly used in the construction trade.
Communicating effectively orally and in writing.
Timely and cost-effective performance of duties.
Ensuring compliance with company safety regulations.
Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.
Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures, policies, and plans.
Effectively coordinating several projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of common safety practices and protective equipment (PPE).
Ability to understand and follow directions.
Ability to work cooperatively and safely with others on common projects.
Problem solving skills.
Demonstrated experience in basic plumbing repairs in an industrial environment.
Demonstrated experience in basic electrical repairs in an industrial environment.
Demonstrated experience in basic building maintenance and repairs in an industrial environment.
Must be proficient at repairing and finishing drywall.
Must be proficient at painting.
Must be proficient at repairing all types of flooring, ceiling tiles, and systems.
Ability to prioritize work and remain flexible daily as the needs of the customer changes.
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule as customer requirements mandate.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Basic knowledge of plumbing systems and capable of completing minor plumbing repairs.
Basic knowledge of HVAC related equipment.
Basic electrical knowledge and capable of changing ballasts in diverse types of lighting fixtures.
Basic knowledge and ability to read and interpret instrumentation, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and communication O&M manuals, prints and drawings.
Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local building and safety codes.
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
Ability to pass a background check after hire.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
