At our Universal City office, interns will have access to the NBCUCommutes program, which provides fully subsidized transit passes to full-time lower lot employees, good for unlimited rides on all Metro bus and rail, such as the Metro Red Line.

Universal Filmed Entertainment Group: (UFEG) consists of the operations to produce, acquire, market and distribute filmed entertainment worldwide in various media formats for theatrical, home entertainment, television and other distribution platforms.? Universal Studio Group: (USG) encompasses NBCUniversal's television production studios: Universal Television (UTV), Universal Content Productions (UCP), NBCUniversal International Studio, and Universal Television Alternative Studio (UTAS). USG produces over 100 scripted and unscripted series across multiple countries around the globe for buyers in broadcast, cable, and streaming. Network partners include NBC, Peacock, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Apple, HBO, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, CTV, ABC, FOX, and ABC among many others.? As part of USG, Stamford Studios is a full-service production facility and is the home to some of NBCU's most popular daytime programming including Maury, The Steve Wilkos Show, and Karamo.?
Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:
Film Music Publishing:?This intern will support the department that is responsible for monetizing and managing the studio's film assets as it relates to film music, film score, theme songs, etc. by way of licensing to third parties.?
Film Music Creative:?This intern will download new music and maintain organization of library as well as assist with music searches and artist brainstorms for films.
Music Business & Legal Affairs: The Music Business & Legal Affairs team supports various clients across NBCUniversal, including Sports, Late Night, Specials, Telemundo, News/Owned Stations, and Scripted/Alt Studios. They are experts in music licensing and administration and help our clients navigate music use within television (everything from research to payments). The role of the Music Business & Legal Affairs intern is to support the overall team - they will gain valuable training and a balanced experience by participating in day-to-day operations. Responsibilities include researching copyright information, creating and updating music cue sheets, databases, tracking grids, and more.?
USG Television Music Creative Services: The role of the TV Music Creative Services intern is to support the staff while obtaining a well-rounded view of how the music and television industries function together. This experience will allow the intern to understand the activities of a music services department and what it takes to get music placed in television. The intern will engage in music clearance, listen to new music received, search our internal music library, and evaluate tracks for potential use.
Basic Requirements:
Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (June 2025 through August 2025). May 2025 graduates are not eligible for our Summer 2025 Internship Program.
Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.
For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.
NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.
Desired Characteristics:
Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
Strong interest in music and/or transactional work.
Strong interest in the media industry.
Ability to understand music related concepts and contractual language.
Demonstrate the ability to multitask, prioritize work and deal with different clients simultaneously.
Self-starter, professional, and ability to adapt.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
For Music Business & Legal Affairs: Knowledge of music-related concepts such as PROs, Cue Sheets, and Clearance terminology preferred.
For USG TV Music: Previous experience with music industry software (SourceAudio and DISCO); experience with music publishing research using industry websites such as ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, GMR, and the MLC; familiarity with where to find licensing information on various platforms such as Spotify, Discogs, AllMusic, and Tunefind.
The hourly rate for student interns is $17.50.
