What does this role look like?
As an Electro-Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as the Responsible Product Engineer for multiple THAAD battery products . You will be working with a diverse team in fielding a highly mobile defense system providing the critical capability to shoot a missile with a missile enabling the U.S. military to effectively and reliably defend the U.S. and allied assets around the world.
Key activities you will accomplish in this role:
Production and development efforts supporting multiple sites including those engaged in electronics packaging, PWB/CCA design, integration, product manufacturing and final assembly.
As a Certified Principal Engineer (CPE), oversee the development and production of missile battery products supporting Missile Power & Comms.
Drawing preparation
Requirements/concept development
Detail design
Manufacturing process development and improvement
Development testing and Hardware Qualification
Discrepancy resolution
Support to producibility, affordability, and obsolescence-driven re-designs.

To be effective in this role, you will need:
Experience with high-reliability electronics or batteries through product lifecycle.
Experience in Mechanical Design with strong understanding of electronics, structures, mechanics and materials. Strong communication skills.
9+ years professional experience; 7+ years with Masters degree.
For this position, an active Interim Secret or higher clearance is required to be considered, thus US Citizenship is required.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science or higher from an accredited college in Materials Science, Chemical, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
Experience with high-reliability electronics or batteries through the product lifecycle.
Experience in Mechanical Design with strong understanding of electronics, structures, mechanics and materials.
An active DoD Interim Secret or higher clearance is required to be considered, thus US Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills:
Demonstrated experience with design, test, production, and/or analysis of batteries or electro-chemical battery systems.
Knowledge of Battery Chemistries (Lithium ion, lithium oxyhalide, LiSi/CoS2, LiSi/FeS2, LAN/FeS2, Ag/Zn, etc.) and types (primary, electrolyte reserve, thermal, secondary/rechargeable)
Experience or willingness to lead teams through challenging engineering and/or programmatic issues.
Comprehensive and authoritative understanding of battery, missile, launch vehicle, or spacecraft systems.
Experienced at conducting failure analysis on Electronics (CCA, Unit, and System Level) or batteries.
Experience with common environmental and performance test methods (e.g. thermal, vibration, shock, altitude, humidity) for high reliability applications (e.g. missile, launch vehicle, or satellite programs).
Experience with electronic system or battery design, integration, production, or verification for automotive, missile, launch vehicle, and/or satellite programs.
Experience performing failure analysis (FA) using radiographic (x-ray, CT scan) or Destructive Physical Analysis techniques (cross sectioning).
Ability to review PCB and Assembly Drawings compliant with Drafting Standards, Geometric Tolerancing, and change management policies to release packages.
Technical experience in full life cycle development of hardware including design, integration, and test.
Previous or current Responsible System Engineer, Certified Principle Engineer, or equivalent experience.
Proven understanding of electronics standards and processes.
Experience using CAD software such as Creo or modeling and analysis software such as OrCAD PSPICE and/or Saber.
DoD Secret or higher level clearance.
Willingness to stretch learn new technical domains (i.e. thermal, chemical, structures, systems).

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Washington or Washington DC is $105,000 - $201,100. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
