Northrop Grumman has an immediate employment opportunity available for a Systems Administrator or Principal Systems Administrator . This position is based in San Diego, CA with rotations onboard US Navy Ships and travel to other naval bases worldwide.
The Systems Administrator or Principal Systems Administrator will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on Mission Package Computing Environment (MPCE) hardware and software and support Mission Module (MM) embarkations by performing initial light off procedures on MM equipment and performing other duties as required.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Install Mission Package Application Software (MPAS) on LCS, troubleshoot any issues, integrate the software with the ship's combat system, and remove software as necessary.
Troubleshoots technical problems and issues, determines technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution.
Deploys, maintains and monitors network gear to include switches, servers, firewalls, etc. De-bugs network-related problems.
Working knowledge of routing protocols, network address assignments and routing configurations. Performs a variety of technical tasks to assist engineers with electronic systems.
Document maintenance and repair procedures for developing government computing system.
Provide logistics guidance to support system maturation.
Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators.
Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
Install and configure Windows/Linux servers, setting up and maintaining DNS/Exchange/Active Directory supporting and maintaining virtual environments, and troubleshooting problems with deployed systems
Manage daily break/fix scenarios/ updates, backups, and other problems that arise
Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.

Basic Qualifications for a Systems Administrator:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years related experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience with DoD computers/systems/electronics
Specific experience required in one or more of the following: Linux (Red Hat), Unix, Windows, (2000, XP, server), Cisco networks
Experienced IT administrator with LAN/WAN technologies
Accept being shipboard and/or on OCONUS assignment for a period up to 180 days away from primary work location and comply with mobility requirements.
Meet medical requirements and vaccinations for worldwide travel.
Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, weekends, and support on-call status when necessary.
US Citizenship required with a minimum of a current/active Interim Secret clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance
Meet DoD 8570 certification requirements (e.g., Security+ certification, CISSP) OR ability to obtain one within 6 months

MCSE certification and/or other network related training
Information Assurance (IA) Certification Level I

Experience in virtual imaging /system deployment / disc imaging a plus
Experience in writing procedures/technical documents
Navy Configuration management and or logistics management experience desired
Microsoft / CISCO certifications or DIACAP training a plus
Navy or Coast Guard experience a plus
Strong communication and organizational skills

Salary Range: $79,300 - $118,900
Salary Range 2: $97,500 - $146,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
