Job Title: Aerospace Engineer (NWS 00J07)

North Wind Services is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. NWS has an established history of contributing to the success of their customer's mission. Qualified applicants must be a US citizen, at least 18 years of age, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including any required physicals, drug screen, and/or background investigation to satisfy clearance requirements from the Department of Energy.
Successful candidates will be employees of NWS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by NWS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by NWS.
The Global Security (GS) Principal Directorate's Z Program has an opening for an Aerospace Engineer to join an interdisciplinary team conducting analysis of ballistic missiles, advanced conventional weapons (ACW), and hypersonic, space/satellite, and UAV systems, and their implications for the national security interests of the United States. This position could require travel to both foreign and domestic locations for meetings, workshops, classes and briefings. The successful candidate should have an exceptional ability to perform analysis and lead projects that integrate complex information from all sources into finished assessments, make formal verbal and written presentations, interface with Program sponsors and Intelligence Community (IC) stakeholders, and contribute to project and organizational goals. This position is in the Science and Technology Assessments (STA) Program within Global Security Principal Directorate's Z Program.
This position may require the intelligence analyst to have the flexibility to work overtime, shift and or weekends to accomplish goals. The successful candidate will be required to pass various on-site training modules to pursue work assignments. Position requires an active SECRET clearance, the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance and obtain and maintain required security in a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) environment for information that is under the analyst's direct control.
Essential Duties
-Plan and execute analysis of worldwide delivery systems.
Produce written products as requested.
Perform analysis of complex, technical processes
Prepare presentations of analysis and results; deliver briefings of findings.
Conduct lectures and develop course modules for annual training courses.
Provide expertise to the IC and DoD community.
Aid sponsors on the development of new analytic questions.
Perform all assignment in accordance with ES&H, Security, and business practice requirements and policies.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline, political science, or international relations, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience, and demonstrated ability to perform independent work.
Advanced knowledge and industry experience in scientific and technological issues associated with national security, specifically delivery systems such as solid and liquid missiles, hypersonics, and advanced material development for thermal protection systems.
Significant experience researching, assessing, and integrating Science Technology (S&T) knowledge, in collaboration with technical subject matter experts, in support of national security issues.
Significant experience in delivery system (or associated component) design and/or production operations at plants or industrial facilities
Experience and ability to provide operational intelligence support to Department of Defense customers, specifically Combat and Command elements.
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communications skills, including presentation skills and technical documentation.
Special Requirements
Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Anticipated Clearance Level: Q (position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.
