Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Acoustic Analyst level 3 or 4 with thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid flow knowledge for the development and ongoing support of new and existing turbines, bearings, heat exchangers, and other system components used in surface ship and submarine propulsion and power generation systems for the US Navy based out of Sunnyvale, CA .
What You'll get to Do:
Perform model-based control design, stability analysis & Robust control design analysis.
Perform vibration, modal and direct frequency response analysis.
Develop system level models using mechanical, electrical and magnetic first principles.
Validate and correlate system level test data.
Developing component and system level finite element models using Hypermesh and post process analysis results using Hyperview, MATLAB and Excel.
Performing linear finite element static, vibration, modal and direct frequency response, and response spectra analyses using Nastran.
Performing nonlinear static and transient finite element analyses using ABAQUS.
Performing fatigue, fracture mechanics, weld, bolting, and buckling calculations.
This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on the qualifications listed below:
Basic Qualifications for Acoustic Analyst level 3:
Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 5 years relevant work experience; or Master's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 3 years of relevant experience; or Ph.D in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with no relevant work experience.
Experience with the following software tools: NX, Hypermesh, Nastran, Abaqus, and MATLAB.
Must be a US citizen.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Basic Qualifications for Acoustic Analyst level 4:
Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 8 years relevant work experience; or Master's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 6 years relevant work experience; or Ph.D in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 3 years pf relevant work experience.
Experience with the following software tools: NX, Hypermesh, Nastran, Abaqus, and MATLAB.
Must be a US citizen.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in developing large system level finite element models using a wide variety of element types.
Experience in performing a wide variety of classical and finite element analysis solution types.
Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900
Salary Range 2: $133,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
