The Defense Systems Engineering organization is seeking the Engineering Sr. Principal Engineering Talent Lead to enhance our engagement, partnership, and effectiveness within the technical community. The Sr. Principal Engineering Talent Lead will join the Defense Systems (DS) Sector engineering organization and partner with HR and Organizational development to help drive technical development and the technical talent strategy for the DS technical workforce through three primary activities: 1) understanding the sector's current & future technical talent development needs, 2) defining, developing, and deploying strategic content and programs, and 3) ensuring training resources are accessible and relevant to users. In support of this mission, this role will provide thought leadership, strategic design, and sector execution of technical talent development solutions. This position can be based out of Roy, UT; Huntsville, AL; Northridge, CA; and Redondo, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
The Sr. Principal Engineering Talent Lead collaborates across the sector, applying a technical engineering focused lens to support the design, digitally enabled, and deployment of development learning resources. As the Sr. Principal Engineering Talent Lead, you will:
Engage senior leaders, including the VPs of HR, Technology, Quality, Engineering, & Manufacturing, as well as subject matter experts and sector stakeholders to shape priorities and talent development efforts in support of program execution.
Support and provide guidance from an engineering domain expertise to the development of new technical learning & development resources through definition of requirements / use cases, design, development, and delivery
Coordinate with partners from across the enterprise on cross-sector engineering development programs and resources to drive engineering talent excellence within all critical skills domains
Create/advance methods to track, measure, and validate value of the TD programs and resources to ensure return on investment, operational efficiency, and scalability/sustainability
Lead creation of development roadmaps and competencies for critical skills, including mapping of existing resources, gap analysis, and project/action plan
Support and understand the needs of workforce development to help in the creation of a clear understanding of engineering talent competency gaps and a practical plan to fill them.
Support the development of a plan to help create a work environment that nurtures talent through diversity and a supportive culture that includes providing different career paths that help engineering talent develop critical engineering skills for the DS Sector.
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Engineering Talent Lead:
Must have a:
Technical background in Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, Modeling, Simulation, & Analysis, or C2 and Battle Management Architectures
Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
Master's degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and influence without authority
Technical background
Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience driving technical or business innovation
Experience leading/facilitating group sessions (e.g., development session, ERG event, planning session)
Learning and development or UX experience, (e.g., instructional design, e-learning, storyboarding)
Active Secret Security Clearance (or higher)
Salary Range: $114,900 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
