The Outside Plant Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing external telecommunications infrastructure at Fort Irwin. The role requires technical proficiency, a strong understanding of telecommunications systems, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Installs, maintains, and repairs outside plant telecommunications infrastructure including cables, conduits, and poles.
Performs routine inspections of outside plant infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and identify any issues.
Responds to and resolves telecommunications outages and disruptions in a timely manner.
Collaborates with internal teams and external contractors to coordinate outside plant projects.
Adheres to safety protocols and regulations while performing work duties.
Maintains accurate records of installations, maintenance activities, and repairs.
Stays updated with the latest trends and best practices in telecommunications infrastructure.
Qualifications
Active DoD Secret clearance.
High School Diploma/GED.
Active unexpired certification as per DoD 8570.01-M guidelines is required i.e. ONE of the following is required: CompTIA Security+CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP) at time of hire or within 60 days of hire date.
Proven experience as an Outside Plant Technician (OSP) or similar role in telecommunications.
Familiarity with telecommunications systems, equipment, and safety protocols.
Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desired Qualifications:
Technical or Vocational training in telecommunications is preferred.
Pay Range
$34.30-$40.87 per hour
